This review is from: American Issues: A Primary Source Reader in United States History, Volume II, Since 1865 (Paperback)
Considering that I knew very little of the social, economical, political and cultural aspects of American history, reading this anthology was a real eye opener on these subjects and an insightful learning experience that I value very much.I was delighted to discover the historical richness of the original texts as well as the critical ideas contained in this discriminating collection of social documents from the Reconstruction Period in the Deep South to the prelude of the 21st Century in America. Reading through this book was time well spent and I highly recommend getting your own copy. Table of Contents: 1. Reconstruction. 2. An Urban and Industrial Nation. 3. The Last West and Populism. 4. Outward Thrust. 5. The Progressive Impulse. 6. Race and Ethnicity. 7. World War I. 8. The Twenties Culture War. 9. The New Deal. 10. World War II. 11. The Fifties. 12. The Cold War. 13. The Civil Rights Revolution. 14. The Great Society. 15. The New Feminism. 16. The Vietnam War. 17. Watergate. 18. The Reagan Revolution. 19. The New Environmentalism. 20. Defining America at the Century's End. Each of the above 20 Chapters is precisely detailed with up to six helpful sub-chapter headings. |
