Like Richard Speck, the Green River killer, and many others, these two cousins only targeted women. The word "misogyny" never comes up here, but maybe it should have. Unlike other famous killers, they acted as a pair. There did seem to be an alpha and a beta male, though those lines sometimes get blurred. This reminded me of "In Cold Blood" and possibly the film "Bug" in the way that disturbed people have a multiplying effect upon each other.
One of the two, like many serial killers, showed no remorse. However, the other tried to use a multiple personality scam. The work never implies that the two were close. One seemed to do one crime and the other a different one.
