i bought this for myself for Christmas and it is awesome. i have been wanting a nice stainless steel set for over a year. last year i bought a small skillet (Marcus Samuelsson 10-Inch Stainless-Steel Skillet) in order to allow myself the opportunity to get used to cooking on stainless steel. it requires the use of lower heat and that was the most difficult part to get used to. my former cookware was Calphalon non-stick and the cooking temperatures are slightly higher.

these are easy to clean and store. before using for the first time, wash with warm soapy water and dry immediately. use a clean paper towel and rub some oil on the inside cooking surface (i used coconut oil). Allow cookware to cool completly before washing. i dry the inside with a paper towel and they reapply oil.

you can put these in the dishwasher, but i prefer hand washing. dishwashing may dull the shine of the pans, and since i hang my pots and pans, i prefer to keep the shine.

i bought this set because it is made in the USA and I have not been disappointed. Get yourself a set, you won't regret it.

We received this cookware set as a gift (from our registry) for our wedding. I was looking for something that was tri-ply (all the way up) and made in the USA, and this set fit the bill. Now that I have had it for a little bit (with more updates hopefully to come later), here are my thoughts:

-The cookware is heavy and sturdy with good handles that don't get hot while cooking.

-Though I have not done any scientific testing to check this, heat application appears to be pretty uniform across the bottom of the pots.

-The upper edge is flat with no funky rounding off that would inhibit cleaning.

-The lids fit securely without being too tight.

-The pots/pans come in sizes you actually want. For me, this meant no 1qt sauce pan (which would be too small) but instead a 2qt & 3 qt (I use the 3qt a lot), an 8qt pot instead of a 5/6 qt dutch oven (since you need an 8qt one anyway, and pretty much anything you can put in a 5/6 qt also can go in the 8qt), and a 12in pan instead of the usual 10in found in most sets.

-Finally, though not really part of the function of the product, the fact that you can still get quality cookware at a decent price (compared to, for instance, All-Clad that costs almost double this ammount) that is made in the United States is a big plus for me.

I was looking all over the board..literally going back and forth for approximately a year. Almost bought Cuisinart 12 Ply but customers felt that the quality wasn't the same. Looked at the stainless steel Calphalon (made in China). I didn't want an inexpensive set but didn't want top of the line either. I also always wanted to purchase an "American made" set if at all possible. I wanted quality (I keep my things for a long time) and wanted to support people here at home. Tired of giving my money to other countries! I purchased this set just before Thanksgiving. I had 30 people over and used these pans. My sister-in-law, who purchases All Clad, couldn't believe how similar they were to her All Clad pans! I am a 44-year-old mother of two and I couldn't be more pleased. As long as you follow the instructions....med to low heat. They do heat up quickly even on low heat....need to get used to that aspect but it isn't difficult was just used to cooking with inexpensive pots and pans. Great quality, wonderful sizes in the set..and AMERICAN MADE!!! Go ahead and purchase, you won't be sorry!!

We purchased this to replace an older well used non stick set we had. The wife had been reading up in the hazards of Teflon and wanted to get a stainless steel set. We had been looking for a while and only found over priced under quality imported sets. I had done a couple of web searches and found this set and it was MADE IN USA! It was 25% under Manufacturer's suggested list price. I ordered it and it arrived two days early, was well packed and the quality was incredible. After using these, the wife now wants me to order the 1qt sauce pan and the steamer.

My husband and I had been looking for a new set of pans that did not have any non-stick coating applied. After many, many hours of research, we decided to try these. There were several factors in making our decision. First, this set has exactly the sizes we use on a regular basis. They are not the smaller sizes that most other sets have. Second, we love the fact that they are made in America an added bonus we didn't think we could find. Third, the quality of the materials used to make these. What we got was all of the above. We love this set of pans and wish we would have bought them sooner. It's awesome to be able to use metal utensils to cook with or grab a fork and not worry that you are going to ruin the pan. These are heavy without being too heavy to manage, they are beautiful without being so pretty you don't want to use them. We highly recommend this set to everyone wanting a great set of stainless pans.

I purchased these pans recently and am very happy with them. They are very sturdy and durable, but not too heavy. Handles stay cool to the touch when on the stove. Lids fit securely, and one nice feature about the lids is that there are only two sizes - small and large. That way, you can reach for either of the two small lids and the one you grab will fit the 2 quart or the 3 quart sauce pan. Same goes for the large lids that interchangably fit the saute pan and the stock pot. Makes looking for lids a non-issue.

Also, the pans clean up easily (although you will need Bar Keeper's friend to remove some discoloration if that bothers you). Very sticky stuff comes off with a wipe after a 10-15 minute soak in water, and baked-on oil residue comes off with a Scotch pad and a good dish detergent.

One thing to note on the saute pan is that it is a bit larger than its All-Clad peer - sides are higher and it is a bit wider in diameter - but it still weighs about the same. I like the larger size since it allows me to fit more in it. But you know what that means: There is a trade-off in terms of thickness as the All-Clad is thicker than the American Kitchen pan (I think All-Clad is ~2.3 mm thick and this one is ~1.8 mm - I don't have exact numbers). This matters if you are concerned about even heat distribution. I am sure that the All-Clad pan is better at this, and some reviews of their pans have spoken of this as a key benefit of using tri-ply pans in general and All-Clad in particular. Nonetheless, I did not think it was worth spending an extra $300 - $400 to have smaller yet thicker pans. I like the higher sides as it prevents splattering and I have not had problems with food burning or cooking unevenly.
