A Walk By The River with Love,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: American Love Songs, Vol. VII (Audio CD)
This is a smooth recording of great American love songs by Cullum's group of superb musicians. In addition to the regulars on the bandstand is the outstanding voice of Nina Ferro, the Australian Diva, who delivers several delightful tracks including "How Deep is the Ocean" and "Let's Do it, Let's Fall In Love." Ferro's vocals with Cullum's band make this a lovely 'riverwalk.'

Soulful,
This review is from: American Love Songs, Vol. VII (Audio CD)
I first heard the Jim Cullum Jazz Band on their excellent Hoagy Carmichael CD. The present CD is perhaps even more impressive, not the least for being recorded live. The soloists in Cullum's band, particularly the clarinets, do things interpretively that are elegant and spirit enahancing. And no one ever plays too loudly to make a point, not even Cullum himself on trumpet. The arrangements are subtle and delicate, and they never outstay their welcome. The volcalists are all excellent, not the least the legendary Joe Williams on one number. Dick Hyman is featured beautifully on a number of selections, including a few that have interesting arrangements for two pianos. If you have a yearning for mainstream, Dixieland influenced Jazz, I think you will find a lot to enjoy on this album.
