The music transports you back to childhood...,
By A Customer
This review is from: American Lullaby (Audio CD)
I was impressed with the cover art, and excessive packaging, but when I heard the music, I would have been satisfied with a brown paper wrapper. This CD is for both children and adults, with high production quality and a variety of intricate arrangements. Anyone who appreciates beautiful music will enjoy this remarkable collection of folk, gospel, and old country music, which offers broad appeal with a consistent focus. I thought the vocals on Susie Tallman's "Hush Little Baby" were angelic, and that was my favorite track.

Tasty sleepy tunes for Baby and Mom and Dad too!,

I love this CD. I had purchased Celtic Lullaby, produced by the same company. I love it and love the presentation. I was looking for just the right gift for friends who have kids. I chose this because the tracks are great for grown up's as well as baby. This is a great gift for anyone who's got kids. I really dug the choice of tracks on the CD: Sweet Honey and the Rock and even a rendition of Love Me Tender. The artwork is nearly as much to marvel at as the songs themselves. Really great CD, super duper gift.

This is by far our favorite lullaby cd. The music is so beautifully soothing... some songs almost hauntingly beautiful. We listen to it with our 15 month old twin girls as part of their bedtime routine. I highly recommend it.

Great unwinding sing-along CD,

My almost 2 year old granddaughter requests this be turned on even when we are not napping. She tries to sing along to the soothing songs. Great music investment for our whole family!

I started listening to this CD before my twin boys were born, so I could be able to sing along to all the songs when they arrived. Even if you're not a natural born singer, the songs are really catchy, with soothing arrangements that will calm a sleep deprived dad.
Now the CD is part of our bedtime routine. Humming the tunes has also helped calm our babies during fussy times. Choosing good music for babies is important. Make sure you choose something you like - your babies will respond well if the music makes mommy/daddy happy too!

I have two children and they both listen to this every night. When my son was a baby, I wanted to find lullaby music of which I wouldn't tire. I have not gotten sick of these sweet songs. LOVE them!

This is our favorite lullaby CD. The music is very good, and it's a great variety of folksy songs. Love it so much, I'm now giving it as a gift.

A friend bought me this when I was pregnant. I started listening to it just after our son was born, and although he was too young to care at the time, I just really enjoyed it. Now it's part of our bedtime routine. If the baby is fussy because he is tired, we turn it on and he's immediately calm!
Our favorite for bedtime is #7, "Resophonic Lullaby". It's a Hawaiian lullaby that transports us directly to a beach when we hear it! Our more-upbeat favorite is #4, "Song for Two Pamelas". It's a guitar duet, which sounds boring but is so fun and playful. I get the baby's toes tapping to this one and he laughs. I also really like #9, "My Creole Belle". It's so obvious the singer is singing to someone he truly loves. I won't mention them all, but they're all great. You can sing them to your little one and they'll love you even more for it.

I am a first-time mom without much tolerance for the dumbed down music that is so often packaged for kids. My little girl (8 months) and I listen to this cd as we rock every night, I am as comforted as she is by artisits' interpretations of this traditional music. The production values are really nice. I think since I am comforted by and enjoy the music, the baby is too. We get her dressed during track one, A Prairie lullaby, and by the end of David Grisman's mandolin, she is sound asleep. Though we don't get there often, I absolutely love the more haunting tunes, like All the Pretty Horses and Hush Little Baby. Overall, I would say that if like music and you want to enjoy being with your baby as she falls asleep in every way, this is a good purchase.
