If you enjoy marbles and history you will like this book. The photos are great. Every conceivable set of machine made marbles is in here. It will make you want to start your own collection. As a historic archeologist, this book has been essential to interpreting what is found in the field and what people were, well, buying at the store in the past. Very good book. I highly recommend it.

More a history of marble companies than information about marbles. Well written, beautifully photographed, but not useful.
Pictures did not help identify individual marbles. A sample listing: Peltier "Black Panda: black with white ribbons, $30-$40." (No accompanying pictures.) I'm having to make my own identification and price guide by following ebay. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Publishers - provide "Look Inside." |
