5.0 out of 5 stars the epitome of easy summer listening, June 19, 2003
By Lucy DeMonte (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
Upon hearing Wakefield for the first time, I thought this is it-this is the only cd I'll be listening to this summer. Fast and catchy, its high quality sugary punk pop that is meant to blasted on the radio while enjoying the hot summer days with your friends. I find this band refreshing, with light-hearted attitudes towards fame and selling out. The chorus of "Infamous" declares "We suck yea we're never gonna make it" while the first track "Sold Out" proclaims "We're in it for the money, all the groupie hunnies." I love the dripping with sarcasm-honesty that makes this band so fun to listen to. They don't put on fronts like other bands do..they're not trying to be something they're not. This CD's purpose isn't to change your life, or to provide deep thoughts for lonely nights alone...if you want that buy another CD . Some say poppunk is overdone, bland, whatever....but Wakefield brings a little something different..maybe its their energy, I can't quite put my finger on it. But this CD is definitely worth your time and money...its 100 percent fun for summertime.

4.0 out of 5 stars Round 1: It's Okay, September 16, 2005
By Eats (Delafield, WI, USA) - See all my reviews
Wakefield deserves a little break on this album. For their first release, it's not bad. The band is young and just feeling their way around the big stage, so I think it's unfair to hold them to the standards of established bands with similar sounds.

And just a reminder, music is supposed to be fun! It doesn't always have to be deep and meaningful, which is why I think some of the other reviews are a little weak. Even if you think it's shallow, it's still quality entertainment. Sometimes a band would rather have you get up and dance than explore the depths of your heart.

The album isn't bad at all, and I would say it's worth buying. While it isn't going to be your favorite (their second album will be though!), there are some good songs to get you on your feet and put a smile on your face.

4.0 out of 5 stars That's Wicked, June 27, 2003
While on vacation in Florida I was browsing around a record store and just happened to look up at the new releases sign in the store and the name Wakefield caught my eye. Only a few days earlier I had been to an All-American Rejects show at home in Atlanta where Wakefield was one of the supporting bands. I thought back on their set, I didn't watch the set, however I could still remember the first song they opened with, their debut single "Say You Will" (track #3) and how impressed I was on their vocal abilities and how well they harmonized, so I decided to pick up a copy of the album. The first time I listened to the album I fell in love with it, I felt like I had to call all of my friends and tell them about Wakefield, a hot new band that was certainly going to go somewhere. For the entire ride home from Orlando to Atlanta, I listened to American Made, and I am still not tired of it, and that says a lot. My friends and I love putting on the album and jamming to songs like "Sold Out" and we have found ourselves saying "That's wicked" one too many times. Wakefield is filled with pure talent running through the veins of all of the young members. Opening with catchy tunes such as "Sold Out", "Unsweet Sixteen", and "Say You Will" then moving onto a slower ballad "Heaven's Coming", American Made has the perfect mix of the upbeat tunes and slower moving "ballads". Wakefield's American Made is a must have for that perfect summer day when you and your friends go cruising around town with the windows down and the system up...
