Great map. Very clear, great quality, the grommets make hanging it very easy. It's more expensive than some other maps, but I ordered a cheaper one and when it arrived it was pretty creased. This map was in perfect shape.

As other reviewers have said, this is a great map, nicely colored, laminated, and detailed. I have it hanging on the wall in my office and after a few days of looking at it I realized that both Greenland, Alaska, and Russia are HUGE and while I'll save the full cartography lesson, I realized that this is a Mercator Projection map. The projection was originally designed for navigation and by nature proportionally distorts the size of any land the farther it is from the equator. I will definitely keep this map up because of its detail and clarity, but I have also picked up a Winkel Tripel projection map that accurately shows sizes of landmasses and has very small distance errors - its a little less visually pleasing but is a better representation of the globe.

As our world becomes smaller, it is imperative we understand where we are on it. This map is the reference point that will assist my grandchildren as they mature. It's big enough and sturdy enough to handle this generation of cyber travelers or the next. I especially appreciate the grommets, so it can hang from hooks and does not need to be mounted. It comes in a mailing tube that has my youngest grandchild convinced he's getting wrapping paper for Christmas...bonus!

The map is very attractive and the company is an A++++. It is well packaged against damage.

Pretty nervous about ordering this map. Read so many bad reviews on this and other maps. I received my map in less than a week. I LOVE IT. It's absolutely beautiful. I love that its lamininated and easy to hang up. The packaging was superbly done in a hard cardboard tube. No complaints whatsoever! I would highly recommend.

Great quality map. A good map for family use. For school, you probably need something more durable that can withstand lots of abuse.

I love this map on my sons bedroom wall. Its large and easy to read. Getting it to roll flat was my biggest challenge.

I am a homeschooling mom who is spending the next 2 years "galloping the globe" with my son as we immerse ourselves in world geography, cultures and history. I wanted a nice map that we could hang in a prominent place in our school room (which also happens to be our hearthroom just off our kitchen). I knew I would need a laminated surface for dry erase markers and the sticky dots we would be using on the map. I also needed something large enough to use as a reference without having to be right on top of it. This map fit the bill quite well.

It arrived in great condition, well packaged and quickly shipped. It is worth nothing that my map did not come with a hanging strip as originially advertised. I contacted the seller and they were very prompt in making it up to me. The lack of a hanging strip turned out to not be an issue in the long run since we ended up mounting the map semi-permanently to the wall by framing it with molding and holding it flat to the wall.

We have been using it since August and it has been a dream. The dry erase marker comes off nicely when needed and borders etc are easily definable on the countries. I like the little flags at the bottom as well. The only thing we have to be conscious of is the distortion- esp. at the arctic areas- which makes some countries (i.e. Greenland) appear positively enormous. This is a function of the type of map it is, and we just pull our globe down for comparison when we are studying a new country in order to give it a more realistic estimate of how that country really fits into the size of things. Once your child can understand how things have to be stretched to show them flat it is just a matter of remembering that.

I'd certainly order again!

I was Christmas shopping online late at night when I mistook the company name "American Map" and the picture of the United States to mean that this was a map of the U.S. Obviously, it's a map of THE WORLD. The product name does say "Political World Map" but the picture, or icon, with the image of the continental U.S. is definitely misleading.

The map arrived promptly and in good condition, though.

The map is exactly what I was looking for, a quality product. However, the box it came in blew me away, it was a 52"*16"*12" box. it probably could have held 250 maps rolled up as they are. inside this box was pounds of packaging paper surrounding a dense cardboard tube to protect the map. The tube would be sufficiently strong to protect the map, all else was wasteful. I have a personal vendetta against wasteful packaging, and i wouldn't have purchased the product knowing the amount of packaging that accompanied it.
