These are the official, Genuine Air Force sunglasses from American Optics, the leading supplier to the U.S. government. The lenses are scratch-resistant true color glass, meaning the grey lenses do not distort the colors you see through them. They also offer 100% UV protection, protecting your eyes from the sun's harmful rays. As you can see, the ear pieces are bayonet style.

This pair has Black frames and 52mm lenses. Larger 57mm lenses are also available, as are gold or silver frames.

They fit well and look great.

They make you feel like Don Draper from Mad Men since these are the same style glasses he wears in the show.

I got the 52mm because I have a slightly narrow face, and they fit great.

Being a diver I find nearly 300 pairs of lost sunglasses per summer so have owned and worn nearly every brand, make, and model. I've worn Oakley, Gucci, Prada, RayBan etc.. They all are about the same in quality although I have seen $300 plastic Gucci frames that were not straight and could not be fully straightened. These rank as high in quality as any of them. This is the first pair I've found and will be replacing a pair of Oakley as my go to sunglasses. At around $50 this is a steal. I would expect to pay $130 or more for similar Ray Ban Aviator style sunglasses. The metal is very high quality - not flimsy at all. Took me a while to adjust them. They are stiff. The lens optics are good although mine had a few light scratches when I found them. Slide on and off easily but the fit feels secure. If you are looking for good quality and don't care about the name you should check these out.

High quality and sturdy frames, temples, and lenses at great price with historical value.

Forget Ray-Bans people, these are some bad-ass shades! Not only are they inexpensive for the quality, but the significant historical value behind these glasses seals the deal. When people compliment you on these shades (which they will), you can enlighten them on the fact that the Flight Goggle 58's were honored to be the first ever sunglasses to land on the moon, which of course were worn by Commander Neil Armstrong and the crew of Apollo 11 in 1969 -OR- They're what Don Draper wears in "Mad Men"

Size Advice: If you only have large face, then do 55mm or 57mm. Otherwise, if you have a medium-large to small face, I'd do the 52mm. I bought the 55mm first (I have a bigger head for my height) and I ended up returning for 52mm - which I'm wearing in the photo below.

Hope this helps! As you can tell, I'm very passionate about these glasses! If I could give them 6 stars, I would.

These frames are very very small. I have a lean face, so I got the smallest frames... And I can barely pull them off (style wise). If you want these frames but, are not sure of the size you need... Go with the 55 mm size. I'll probably give these to my dad (who has a tiny head), and order some 55 for myself. When in doubt, choose size 55. Only get size 52 if your head is unusually small. Ps: overall quality is great!

I just received my new sunglasses today. I do like them very much but they are not as described, the description said " The 52-mm frame with bayonet temples is perfect for smaller faces". The ones i had received do not have bayonet temples and have regular wire spatula temples instead. I would of really liked to have the bayonet temples but guess i have to make due with the wire spatula temples. I still like them but wish they would of been as described.

Long ago I thought about sunglasses, figured that the most crucial application would be for fighter pilots. Bought my first pair >30 years ago and have been buying these glasses, re- order them when I lose them or break them. They're well made, but the rigors of life do take their toll! Try a pair... you'll be impressed... I recommend them to my friends, they are reasonably priced.

These are great sunglasses. The optics are really good and the construction is solid. And you can't beat the look. Some may find them a tad on the heavy side due to the use of real glass but I like the solid feel. I was concerned that they aren't polarized but so far it hasn't been an issue. I have a smaller face and have trouble finding a good fit. The American Optical's in the 52mm are perfect for me. The case they come with is nice. Nothing fancy but it does the job. I do wish they came with a cleaning cloth but that's a minor complaint.

These glasses are indeed of good quality. They fit perfectly and look impressive. It is rather difficult to find American-made sunglasses these days, especially those which are affordable. They are a fine choice and indeed worthy of the U.S. Military. The leather case, along with the one year warranty, is also greatly appreciated.

The only minor complaint is that they ought to have been made wholly of U.S. components. Regardless, I look forward to enjoying them for years to come.

Amazing quality for the price. I was very surprised when they arrived at how sturdy and well made these glasses are. I've spent $300-500 on glasses that were not this well made. Highly recommended.
