5.0 out of 5 stars You kidding me!?
Absolutely a must-have, killer hard rock debut. Not G'n R, but better, in your face rock. "If We Were Kings" is classic.

2.0 out of 5 stars Kinda good, not worth buying though
I bought this one on the recommendation of the reviews here. Gotta say I still haven't found any of the guitar work that I read about. Not to mention the songs stay the same speed for the most part with the same rythms and the same vocals just different words. Its like owning a disc with 1 song repeated 10 times. Not bad overall, just way below what I was hoping for. In...

I FIRST HEARD THIS CD AT A RECORD STORE AN HESITATED TO BUY IT, FIGURING IT WOULD BE "A FLY BY NIGHT BAND". THEN I HEARD A FEW MORE TRACKS AND FINALLY PURCHASED IT.BOY WAS I WRONG. LET ME TELL YOU, IT'S BEEN IN MY CD PLAYER, PLAYING OVER AND OVER. NOW IT'S ABOUT TIME TO BUY A SECOND COPY TO REPLACE THE "SCORCHED" FIRST COPY. THE PRICE IS RIGHT, SO TAKE A CHANCE AND PICK UP THIS CD FROM A GROUP OF GUYS WHO REALLY KNOW WHAT ROCK AND ROLL AND PLEASING MUSIC LISTENERS IS ALL ABOUT. YOU WON'T BE DISSAPPOINTED!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard hitting alternative rock, July 9, 2001
This review is from: American Pearl (Audio CD)
I picked up American Pearl's CD on sort of an impulse buy, it was cheap and I had heard good things. Well, when I brought it home and listened, I was immediately impressed. American Pearl have a lot of energy and are reviving a sound that was left behind when bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden left the scene. The guitarwork on here is probably the best part, "Truth" has amazing solo's and riffs that would make Slash very proud. My favorite tracks on here would be California, Free Your Mind, Truth and Seven Years. If you want a good, solid alternative-hard rock album, you cannot go wrong with American Pearl.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific debut, May 10, 2001

This review is from: American Pearl (Audio CD)
Not too many bands out there putting out straight ahead rock and roll. Not heavy metal, not rap-metal, not grunge. Just straight ahead rock and roll in the AC/DC, Aerosmith, G-n-R vien. But American Pearl is very different lyrically. The songs are not of the typical let's get drunk/high/stoned... variety(not that there's anything wrong with that!). They deal with matters of the heart, spirituality, morality without ever sounding preachy or heavy handed. It's a fine line to walk and American Pearl never crosses it. Musically the album is bold and muscular. A few of the songs could use a little work in the bridge parts and neither of the guitarists is going to make Slash put his Les Paul away. But it's obvious that American Pearl has enough talent as songwriters and players to be around a while. In the same vien as Buckcherry musically but on a completely different planet lyrically.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Special, November 3, 2000
This review is from: American Pearl (Audio CD)
This debut contain nothing new or ground-braking. Just good hard-rock, without any rap mixed in to bring it down. Unlike most music released these days, there is some actual tallent here. The songs are tightly crafted and each offers somthing different to the disc. With catchy chourus and such favorites as 'Givaway' 'Automatic' 'Free your Mind' 'Truth' and 'Revelation', American Pearl is one the best debuts of 2000.

3.0 out of 5 stars mediocre rock, January 20, 2005
This review is from: American Pearl (Audio CD)
I bought it because other fans of The Scream bought it, so I thought I might like it. Best I can describe this band is a watered-down Guns 'N' Roses. The guitar's probably what Slash was doing after only playing a few years. The singer's got a good voice and obvious creative talent (though not with lyrics), but there's not enough juice coming from the rest of the band to support him on this album.

To give you a feel for where I'm coming from, my favorite music was around the era of Appetite for Destruction, No More Tears, the Black Album and other riff-driven rock...and a particular taste for Southern stuff like Badlands and The Scream.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real modern rock makes a comeback!, March 24, 2003

I first saw American Pearl when they opened for Creed as well. They are so awesome! I loved the fact that all their songs were different and that they had variety in their music. This CD is a must to add to anyone's collection who loves modern rock but not too hard or too soft. Enjoy eveyone! I'm hoping they come back in town soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock and roll at its very best, January 5, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: American Pearl (Audio CD)
This is easily one of the best rock albums I've heard in a long time. It's great to see that at least one band out there isn't afraid to make a true rock record in today's musical climate. If you like newer bands like Buckcherry, or older bands like Van Halen and Motley Crue, then you will absolutely love this CD. These guys have everything necessary to become a truly great rock band: killer drums, awesome guitar riffs, and an outstanding lead singer. I hope to hear more from American Pearl in the near future.

With the emergence of a ton of new rock bands, hopefully the boy/girl pop crap explosion will go away quickly. American Pearl is a nice new addition to the rock world, even though they do not offer anything new or extraordinary. They are quite simplty a hard rock band with a punkish look. There songs remind you a lot of Buckcherry, straight ahead rock. The band members seem to have been around together for a while because they are very tight on every song. The lead singer has a catchy voice and carries a lot of the songs. If you are in the mood for a new rock band with a nice little punch get this album!! The best cuts are: 2. Automatic;3. Giveaway;4. Underground;5. Free Your Mind;7. Bleed;9. Revelation
