4.0 out of 5 stars Good soundtrack but incomplete.
Here's a list of songs I've gathered that are in the movie but not in the soundtrack, hope it helps someone (I can't promise that all of these songs are in the movie, it's just what I read, and I can't promise these are all the other songs from the movie either): Michelle Branch - Everywhere; The Offspring - Want You Bad; Sum 41 - In Too Deep (at end of movie when they're...

3.0 out of 5 stars What happened to WEEZER?
Okay, like everyone, I saw the movie and loved the music. I checked out the CD and was very very upset when I found out that the five songs I loved, weren't even on the soundtrack!! I mean, what happened to Weezer's "Hash Pipe", Alien Ant Farm's "Smooth Criminal", New Found Glory's "Hit or Miss", Offspring's "Want You Bad", and...

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the soundtrack!!, August 10, 2001

I saw American Pie 2 and the songs in the movie are not the ones on the soundtrack. Songs like Alien Ant Farm - Criminal, American Hi-Fi - Flavour Of The Week & A New Found Glory - Hit Or Miss were in the movie, but are not on the soundtrack. So this might be a good CD. BUT IT IS NOT THE SOUNDTRACK FOR THE MOVIE!!!!!

Okay, like everyone, I saw the movie and loved the music. I checked out the CD and was very very upset when I found out that the five songs I loved, weren't even on the soundtrack!! I mean, what happened to Weezer's "Hash Pipe", Alien Ant Farm's "Smooth Criminal", New Found Glory's "Hit or Miss", Offspring's "Want You Bad", and Michelle Branch's "Everywhere"?? Being a fan of punk/rock music, I bought the CD anyway. I absolutely love Angela Ammons' "Always Getting Over You" and American HI-FI's "Vertigo". I give this CD 3 stars simply because the best songs that were played in the movie are missing and the songs they chose, were irrelevant and not remembered in the film.

Omygosh I came out of the theater with my mind set on buying the soundtrack to this movie, I loved all the songs by AAF, Michelle Branch, Weezer, the Offspring, and more. I am soo dissapointed that these songs were not on the soundtrack and am relieved that I looked up the songs which songs were included before buying this cd. I dont understand why they play the songs in the movie but dont include them in the soundtrack!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars I hate when they do that..., August 13, 2001

Overall, fabulous CD. I got the CD right after seeing the movie, and I'm not disappointed, but the 3 songs that jumped out the most at me in the movie aren't on the soundtrack. Smooth Criminal, a song by Michelle Branch, and one of the other Blink 182 songs. I only hope they come out with a second soundtrack that includes these songs too!

3.0 out of 5 stars where are the rest of the songs??, August 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: American Pie 2 (Audio CD)
when I went to see American Pie 2 I was glad to hear some great songs in the movie, so I purchased the soundtrack. But there are many songs missing that are heard only in the movie such as: Hash Pipe(Weezer), Want You Bad(Offspring), Hit or Miss(New Found Glory), and Smooth Criminal(Alien Ant Farm). Overall, the cd is ok because it has songs by blink-182, Green Day, Sum 41, and Fenix TX which are all bands I like. Hopefully they will release another soundtrack to go with this cd because there are a lot of great songs that just weren't put on this cd.

1.0 out of 5 stars Soundtrack Missing Lots of Quality Songs, September 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: American Pie 2 (Audio CD)
I just saw American Pie 2 today for the second time and I was just about to purchase the soundtrack because of some of the good tunes that were in it. But as I listened to the samples here at the amazon.com site, most of the songs that were in the movie do not appear on the soundtrack. Why is this? In my opinion there are only like 3 decent songs on this soundtrack, the rest are crap. If they'd included Alien Ant Farm's rendition of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" and The Offspring I'd might have made an exception. To anyone interested in this soundtrack, save your money to see the movie again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing A Lot of Great Music; I Have Full Version Of Bruise, June 25, 2003
By
This review is from: American Pie 2 (Audio CD)
What were the people who put the soundtrack together thinking? Maybe they weren't. If you're going to use the songs in the movie, you better include them on the soundtrack. There were a lot of songs used in the movie but the best of the best were left off the soundtrack; go figure. I was disappointed to say the least. Some of the standout tracks not on the CD are "Last Time Again" by Lit, "Everywhere" by Michelle Branch, "In Too Deep" by Sum 41, and my favorite, "Bruise" by Oleander. "Bruise" by Oleander is a rare "B" side which is why no one can find it on any of Oleander's albums. If you want the song "Bruise" by Oleander in it's entirety in MP3 format, ...I hope this helps any of you looking for these songs!

4.0 out of 5 stars I would rate it five, but I can't get past the missing songs, November 2, 2003
By
This review is from: American Pie 2 (Audio CD)
The title says it all. The songs on here were great but there was just too much missing for me to want to give it the big five. But it's a great one to play at a party or listen to on a boring day in clsas. The songs missing that I really missed were:

Lemmonheads-"Mrs. Robinson"
Offspring-"Want You Bad"
James-"Laid" (the cover by Matt Nathanson is on the 'Wedding' soundtrack. I like Matt's version better.)
Sum41-"In Too Deep"
Michelle Branch-"Everywhere"

I'm not sure the titles, but the song that played while Finch is painting on the balcony and the song that playes in the 'morning after' montage... what were those ones? I looked for them, but...
Anyway, here's a review of what was actually ON this one.

EVERYTIME I LOOK FOR YOU - 5/5 This one is a great fast-paced song that is perfect to open the soundtrack.
SCUMBAG - 5/5 This song is so addictive, I just wish it were longer.
BRING YOU DOWN - 2/5 Meh. The exact same as the first two and it gets a little unoriginal.
VERTIGO - 5/5 One of my favourite songs ever by one of my favourite bands ever. Once again, I wish it were longer.
SPLIT THIS ROOM IN HALF - 5/5 I think this song his crazily hilarious! Nice to see something differentish from Uncle Kracker.
BE LIKE THAT - 5/5 My friends and I all love this song. It's so catchy.
GOOD FOR A WOMAN - 4.5/5 It's pretty good, a little less heavy than I'm used to, but, waddaya gonna do?
ALWAYS GETTING OVER YOU - 4/5 Considering this is a ballad, that's a damn good rating. Sorry, it's too pop for this soundtrack, but I still like it.
CHEATING - 3/5 It's fine, but after you hear it twice it gets annoying, especially the guy's voice.
SMOKESCREEN - 5/5 Well, it's just good, do I really need to go over my word limit explaining why?
PHEOBE CATES - 5/5 See above
SUSAN - 1/5 Sorry, I just don't like it.
FAT LIP - 4/5 Back when this soundtrack came out it would have been 5/5, but I've heard it too much since then to like it anymore.
I WILL - 3/5 Mixed feelings on this one. Can't explain.
HALO - 5/5 The 2nd best song on this soundtrack (1st being Vertigo) and I like it because it's soft AND hard.

If you want Alternative, get AP1. If you like Punk, get AP2. If you are like me and like both, either get both or download 'em. It's easier because then you can get every song on the same CD.

2.0 out of 5 stars Remember when soundtracks had songs from the MOVIE?!, August 24, 2001
By
TJ (Stifler Time, Baby) - See all my reviews

So, I loved the movie and actually paid to see it twice. The songs in the movie are really full of energy. The music was a perfect blend of laughter, sobriety, and just going crazy. A great summary of the movie. Why, then, when I listen to the soundtrack, does it not remind me of the movie? It's just not a feel-good compilation of what American Pie 2 really was, and will just serve to disappoint loyal fans and would-be buyers of the soundtrack. Your time and money would be better spent seeing the movie again and remembering which songs you'd like to hear on your own version of an American Pie 2 soundtrack.
