5.0 out of 5 stars BRAVO !!!!!
My hat goes off to Dawn Capp for her dedication to helping this breed and for writing this book. This book is perfect for handing out to your neighbors (who think "pit bull" equals "vicious man killer" due to years of being bombarded by the bias media propaganda and misinformation) when you bring home your new Bulldog pup or rescue dog. It is informative and to the point...

3.0 out of 5 stars still not what I was looking for...
I thought that most of the book had a good overtone, but there were still a sort of warning in the book about the breed. I have never had my pits act in a "pit" manner, just a dog manner... they are always kenneled together, and have never been separated more than a couple days in their entire lives. I just think that this book, while trying to be good, has too much...

It is informative and to the point so it is a quick read that holds your interest. It really hits home on how persecuted these poor animals are, and paints a true picture of how wonderful these dogs really are. This is a must have for any breed advocate or new Pit Bull owner to help pave the way to a more favorable public image of our breed.

I thought that most of the book had a good overtone, but there were still a sort of warning in the book about the breed. I have never had my pits act in a "pit" manner, just a dog manner... they are always kenneled together, and have never been separated more than a couple days in their entire lives. I just think that this book, while trying to be good, has too much cautionary advice in it. They are dogs first, pits second... which means they have skin problems, are adorable, goofy, crazy tolerant, and can clear coffee tables with a single swipe of a tail... not some deranged neighbor-killing machine or a must be under constant supervision at all times to not attack another dog/family member, at least no more than any other dog... if any pit owners are looking for a book for some limelight on their dogs, I'm not sure this is it, although it's much better than some other books I've found...

Being a pitbull owner for 27 years and a dog trainer I have experienced first hand the bias and hatred people have for these wonderful dogs. I've had one person draw a gun on a 4 month old pup, I've had another person stop me so she could hold and make over my adorable "boxer". Then when she found out it was a pitbull she flung the dog to the ground and told me that I should put the ferocious beast to sleep before it killed someone. Funny, she didn't think that while my dog was licking her face and making her laugh. The author tells it like it is and I have yet to find another book that is so straight forward and above all..TRUE. I have read and own just about every book that can be found on pits and out of all of them she has hit the nail on the head. Anyone that has owned dogs that have been labeled "vicious" by the media and public because of their breed should read this book. She has written what I have been telling people for years. I highly recommend this to the people that want the real facts and care about changing the attitude of the general public regarding this breed. To those of you that are back yard breeders and don't know what you are doing, what breed are you going to destroy next if the pitbull disappears? Because of your actions and stupidity responsible pit owners are having to deal with the bad publicity and bad rap you've put on their dogs.
