I was way overdue on changing my filter, but could not find a match between the model number of my filter housing and the available filters. After some looking, I found this item which looked like the filters I had, and I took a chance. They fit and work fine. I will be changing these every couple of months from now on. When I first took off the casing for the filter, the water was off-color and the filter was slimy. Definitely change the filter every 2-3 months.

This filter came with the whole house water filter I had installed when I moved in almost 3 months ago. At the time, I asked the plumber how often I would have to change the filter. He said I should check it at about 6 months. The packaging suggests 3 months.

I have noticed, however, that my shower water had slowed to barely more than a trickle over the past week or 2. I pondered calling the plumber. I had set a reminder in my calendar to check the filter at 3 months ... I looked and was still 2 weeks short of that deadline. Still, what's the harm, I thought. It took some fiddling to get the filter housing off, and even with the bucket beneath, there was some overflow and spraying.

When I removed the filter, ew. The filter looked fairly clear, but it and the entire inside of the housing were slimy. The slime was brown when wiped off.

So here is my suggestion. Go ahead and try for 3 months. If you have an excellent water supply, you might get that long from the filter. Stay keen to drops in water flow from various faucets. If the flow slows, think about replacing that water filter.

My calendar is now set for a 2-month reminder, and hopefully that will be before the water flow slows or it gets grossly slimy.

The filter did its job. But if you search on Amazon, there are a plethora of filters the same size, many at a lower cost. Do they work as well? I can't say at this point ... but when I try them I will post reviews under those product web pages.

I've been using this filter as an all-sinks/no tubs central filter for over four years. It filters all water that might be drunk, but not shower or tub or hose water. We have terrible tasting water (chlorine), and this filter works very well. Cannot speak for other claims. Instructions say to replace every three months, and that appears to be a must. After a fourth month it is starting to get nasty. I do recommend.
After an inquiry, I offer that an individual filter measures 2-5/8" diameter at the gasket x 9-3/4" and is designed to fit an American Plumber model WC34-PR filter housing (and maybe others as well - don't know).

These filters are exact replacements for my whole house water filtration system. The price was comparable to others on the market and I will order again from these folks when required.
