~HARD INDUSTRIAL~,

I love it!!!! 16 Volt have become one of my personal favorite industrial rock bands over the years. Tim Skold (ex-Marilyn Manson/KMFDM) contributes to this awesome album. The production is fantastic. So many great songs on this album but of course my favorite is "American Porn Songs". Another hard hitting industrial album for fans of NINE INCH NAILS, and CHEMLAB.

Great album. 16 Volt just keeps getting better with every new album. Hard industrial rock for fans of CHEMLAB, SISTER MACHINE GUN, PIG, KMFDM, and NINE INCH NAILS.

Hard not to like. I think the previous album (Full Black Habit) was a little better...but this album still had that hard industrial punchy thing that 16 volt does so well. f you like NINE INCH NAILS, GRAVITY KILLS, KMFDM, and CHEMLAB than you will love 16 Volt.

I'm not sure if this album is supposed to be a quote CONCEPT ALBUM (i.e. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon or Nine Inch Nail's Downward spiral) but it plays like one. Not since Downward Spiral have I been so drawn in and obsessed with an album. The production value is amazing and everything from a whisper to a scream sounds perfect. The vocals are varied enough that you don't get bored and the story this album seems to tell is gritty and intelligent and unflinchingly honest. The title is quite apt making you feel slightly uncomfortable from the get-go and keeping a hold of you until the last note. This is my first introduction to 16 Volt and I immediately scooped up the rest of their musical catalogue (listing to Fullblackhabit right now) and I'm addicted. This is also the only review I've ever written on Amazon. 16 Volt is amazing and so is this album. Well worth the money! I was getting bored with the state of Industrial music (and just music in general...)and this band has reaffirmed my faith in great music!

This album is my 3rd favorite to SuperCoolNothing and FullBlackHabit. The remakes('Blessed' and 'Alkali') sound good if not better than the originals. 'To Hell' is my least favorite (very repetitive). But there are some really good tunes in there('Can You Find God?' and 'Enjoy the Pain' just to name a couple). Sound quality is great but some sampling creates and/or adds more pop-sounding music than earlier albums if you know what I mean. Good album but not one of their best.

There are many bands that try to do industrial without reaching the quality of 16 Volt. This is the newest album in a line of great albums.

Fantastic songs & production. Lyrics & vocals lacking.,

I am a big fan of 16 Volt and I think that Full Black Habit is one of the best modern industrial albums out there. I was eagerly awaiting this new album. Awkwardly titled American Porn Songs, this album is Eric Powell at his most intense and scathingly heavy. The production is amazing. The drums hit hard, and the bass & guitar are thick and deep. You get lots of awesome industrial samples, blips, beeps, & whirs to compliment the songs. A lot less synths this time around. In fact, American Porn Songs is more of a straight up assault of heavy electronic rock. The downside is Eric's vocals and lyrics this time around. He has always had an unusual voice, which complimented the music on SuperCoolNothing and FBH. Unfortunately, on this album the melodies do not seem to fit as well. Erics vocals are either obnoxiously too loud or they are drowned out and muddy. You cant really understand what he says most of the time and there are no lyrics. Case in point is To Hell. The repeating of the song title in that silly voice is almost unbearable.Still musically it is fantastic. You have never heard an industrial rock album sound like this. It is very organic and heavy. Best songs are Alkali (re-recording of an older song), Blackbird, and The Devil Doesnt Want Her. Full Black Habit takes the cake for best 16 volt album, but American Porn Songs has the best production quality. Just get ready for some odd vocals and off-kilter melodies. Recommeneded.

ANOTHER classic.....,

Incredible. Eric Powell keeps giving us classic, after classic....If you're not familiar, just think NIN with heavier guitars and more hooks. Eric is another Trent Reznor, able to perform vocals, guitars, programming by himself with a little help from some guests. This has to be the best music in the heavier side of the world that flys under the radar. I've turned a bunch of friends on to 16 Volt and they can't believe their ears. Excellent production as well. Check out their other 5 albums...all excellent. If you don't have these albums, you're really missing out. How one person can write so many catchy hooks and good memorable songs is pretty incredible.

I love the 16 Volt Super Cool Nothing CD so I thought I would like this CD as well, but sadly, I don't.
