American Profile--recipes for an unhealthy, fattening diet!
I regret buying this cookbook a few years ago after seeing it advertised in a Sunday paper and am ashamed of paying a lot more than the $3 or $4 shown here. The book is LOADED with unhealthy ingredients--bacon, sausage, lard, numerous dairy products, white sugar and flour, etc. "American Profile" says it all. If people are eating a lot of the junk in these recipes, it...

American Profile--recipes for an unhealthy, fattening diet!, August 3, 2011
This review is from: American Profile Hometown Cookbook: A Celebration of America's Table (Paperback)
If people are eating a lot of the junk in these recipes, it is no wonder so many Americans are obese and/or ill. In all fairness, I think the recipes may be rather typical of how many people cooked decades ago. Thank goodness, health organizations and others now encourage concentrating on whole grains, vegetables, fruits, plant protein, etc. I am happy to be pitching this book and making room in the cabinet for more vegan, raw food, and juicing recipes--which family and friends appreciate and enjoy. The book gets one star from me only for the effort of the authors and fewer than a half dozen recipes that I may actually use.
