Study Guide to The American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook of Psychosomatic Medicine is a question-and-answer companion that allows you to evaluate your mastery of the subject matter as you progress through the Textbook.

The Study Guide is made up of 234 questions divided into 40 individual quizzes of 5-10 questions each that correspond to chapters in The American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook of Psychosomatic Medicine. Questions are followed by an Answer Guide that references relevant text (including the page number) in the Textbook to allow quick access to needed information. Each answer is accompanied by a discussion that addresses not only the correct response but also explains why other responses are not correct.

The Study Guide's companion, The American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook of Psychosomatic Medicine, edited by James L. Levenson, M.D., covers all the major topics in psychosomatic medicine, including general principles in evaluation and management, psychiatric symptoms and disorders in the medically ill, issues within each medical specialty and subspecialty, and psychiatric treatments in the medically ill. Meticulously researched, clearly written, and designed for ease of use, the comprehensive and scholarly Textbook brings together the body of knowledge and skills that defines the subspecialty of Psychosomatic Medicine.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Particularly useful in this study guide is the fact that in the review and answers section the entire questions and choices are repeated, which thus eliminates the need to flip back and forth from the questions to the answers sections."-- "Jose R. Maldonado, PsycCritiques", "January 2006"

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide!, July 16, 2006
This review is from: American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook Of Psychosomatic Medicine - Study Guide (Paperback)
An excellent guide! The questions are relevant and cover many "medical" psychiatry (such as heart, lung, and renal diseases) sections. The explanations are comprehensive with good references.

2.0 out of 5 stars better alternative, April 27, 2009
By
This review is from: American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook Of Psychosomatic Medicine - Study Guide (Paperback)
This is an ok question book, especially since there seem to be few alternatives to studying for the Psychosomatic board exam. However, exactly the same questions can be found on PsychiatryOnline, with an online quiz format. Not only can you practice computerized testing with no flipping about in a book, you get 20 CME credits for your $50.
