For quilt history students and/or just quilt afficianados, this book rates a 10 on the 1-10 scale. It is well organized, full of extraordinary color photos and commentary. I would strongly recommend it to any and all quilt lovers. It is well worth the price.

This review is from: American Quilts in the Modern Age, 1870-1940: The International Quilt Study Center Collections (Hardcover)
This is the most comprehensive book on American quilts ever published. Each subject is covered by experts we know and trust, such as Barbara Brackman Clues in the Calico: A Guide to Identifying and Dating Antique Quilts, Merikay Waldvogel American Quilt Classics, 1800-1980: the Bresler Collection, and Laurel Horton (Research Papers of the American Quilt Study Group). The photographs are outstanding and include close-up details as well as full-quilt photos. Drawing from the collection at the International Quilt Study Center, the authors' personal collections, and collections at other museums, the book exhibits multiple examples of the types of quilts produced from 1870 through 1940. When possible photographs and brief descriptions of the quilt maker(s) are also included, providing readers a view of what life was like at the time and how quilts and quilting fit into their life. No quilt library will be complete without American Quilts in the Modern Age.

A catalogue of inspiration for every quilter. Lots of colored photographs with quilt assessments written by some of our well known quilters and authors. Barbara Brackman, Laurel Horton and Merikay Waldvogel to name just a few. It may be a little on expensive side but well worth the investment. Fabulous!!! Hopefully we wont have to wait too long for the next volume.
