Frustrating when you have a sick child!!
P. Marky
The first time I used it, the reading was different each time so I tried it on myself and the same thing happened.
S. Lockett
If I repeatedly take my sons temperature 5 times in a row it will be different by whole degrees on every reading.

When I first bought and used this thermometer, it worked the way it was supposed to work. About 4 months after, I tried to use this again because my 9-mo old baby had a fever, and it first read 96.1F ... then I redo it again thinking maybe I didn't do it correctly, and it then read 90.7F. I KNOW the readings were wrong because my baby was burning up! Reading the instructions again and redoing didn't help. So I had my spouse goto Walgreens (at 11:30p) and picked up a Vicks Pro-Style thermometer for $17 -- at least $10 less than this piece of junk!! btw, the Vicks read 101.3F. If I could give a negative star for this American Red Cross product, I gladly would!

It seemed to work OK at first but quickly became completely unreliable. Variances of 3 or more degrees if you take the temperature twice within minute of each other and neither reading likely to be accurate. Threw it away.

I bought this from Target for about $30 dollars and from the very first use it's always given me inaccurate readings. I don't mean small inaccuracies, it will range from 97.7 one try and then the next may read 100.3. If I repeatedly take my sons temperature 5 times in a row it will be different by whole degrees on every reading. I've tested it angling it at the same direction every time and on an adult ear and it always does the same thing. If I could give this item 0 stars I would. I'm surprised that this product hasn't been taken off the shelves.

When my daughter was sick, this would give very different readings each time I tried it. I would take the temperature about 5 times each time just to get an idea. I wound up buying the Braun Thermoscan for about $40. It is worth the $ because now I know what her temperature is when ever she is not feeling well and know if she is really sick or not.

I bought this ear thermometer and it didn't work when I got it. Sent it back with no problem and they replaced it with another thermometer that didn't work! I would not recommend this item at all.

The item I received arrived with a coroded battery, the small screw to the battery compartment is difficult to remove and the phillips screwhead strips easily. Was able to replace the coroded battery, but the item failed entirely a week later. While it was operational, it was difficult to use with a child who was squirming and twisting, but did produce accurate temperature readings quickly. It does not have an automatic on and off feature, and this could contribute to early battery failure if you are not careful to turn it off manually.
