From Library Journal
Few subjects in this country deserve more attention than the plight of the homeless. Aptly titled American Refugees, this book of black-and-white photographs chronicles the lives of men, women, and children who no longer have a place within their own country. Although the quality of reproduction is at times uneven and the lavish design may be off-putting, on the whole one is effectively jarred by these photographs, especially those of children. The book also features a thoughtful and sensitive foreword by Jonathan Kozol. Recommended for most public and academic libraries.
