Showcases the tensions between public and private interests,

This review is from: The American Revolution: A Short History (The Anvil Series) (Paperback)
The creation of United States, as it arose from the violent struggle of the American Revolution, was profoundly influenced by colonial politics, economics, and social diversity of the populace. Indeed, it was the British demands for taxation to compensate them for the funding of the French & Indian War in defense of the colonies just a few years earlier that precipitated the war for independence. Mary Gallagher draws upon her impressive expertise to especially showcase the tensions between public and private interests among the participants of the Revolution in this 242 page "reader friendly" historical survey. The American Revolution: A Short History is strongly recommended for all academic and community library American history collections.
