5.0 out of 5 stars creepy & delicious
I've tried both recipes on the back of the box. I was careful to follow the directions about greasing the mold and consequently had no difficulty removing the food when it was finished. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I ordered two brain jello molds for an Anatomy speech and project in college. The mold was fragile and broke apart when I tried to make the jello. It was not what I expected. A big dissapointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars creepy & delicious, October 26, 2008
I've tried both recipes on the back of the box. I was careful to follow the directions about greasing the mold and consequently had no difficulty removing the food when it was finished. One recipe makes a grey brain. After adding the food coloring as directed, I adjusted it a little- don't be afraid to do that. One of our party guests is a pharmacist; she commented on how "anatomically correct" it was. I noticed that guests were not eating that brain- when I asked about it, some people thought it was a plastic prop because of the great color and "perfection" in the design. Others were just not sure about how edible it was, taste, etc. I cut into it to encourage guests to have some, and then some did. It does make a great tasting recipe. The green recipe is simply making a big green brain-shaped jiggler. We did add the gummy worms as suggested; those were immediately devoured by the teens. This was a fun thing to do for a party & we would do it again.

Used this for a group science project on nervous system. It is meant to use with jello, however, I lightly brushed interior with corn starch before pressing in air-dry clay. It took some work getting it out but we were in a hurry. Painted the sections of the brain with acrylic paints. I would buy this again.

I ordered this mold to use in connection with a social skills lesson in my classroom. My students loved it! I used the recipe on the back of the box and the jello was incredibly strong. There were two things I would suggest. #1. It took more jello to fill the mold than the recipe indicated.#2 If you want to float worms or other things inside, put them in immediately. I wanted to float some laminated paper strips with "brain functions" inside the jello, so as with normal jello, waited for it to partially set up. Instead, it set up almost immediately. As a result, my little strips of paper were all on the bottom of the brain.

I bought this mold as recommended in a social skills curriculum (Michelle Garcia Winner, Superflex) I use with my social language groups. After making the jello brain I inserted social skils into the brain. The kids had to dig them out. They had a blast and then got to eat the brain afterward. Great fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Brain Mold!!, January 7, 2009

Great brain jello mold! Came with two recipes, one to make a green brain and one to use specific gelatin flavors with condensed milk. The green one was delicious and glowing. The other wacky one produced one that was gray, resembling brain matter!!! Tasted nasty but produced the PERFECT disgusting look.

This was the most fun I've ever had with food and the green brain suitably impressed my 4th grade son's class during their class halloween party.

I ordered this for the centerpiece (well, the Jello mold will be the centerpiece) of the food we're serving at a zombie themed birthday party.

The box comes with two receipes on the back: one for a realistic looking gray brain and the other for a "more fun" gummie worm/bug infested brain.

We plan to make both and they should go over really well!

The mold is a tad thin, so you have to be careful with it. But, I think with normal useage, we could get plenty of years of brainy goodness out of this lil' gelatin mold! :)

I sprayed it with some non-stick cooking spray before filling it up with pudding and it came out beautifully. It has lots of detail. The only thing to be aware of is that it won't sit flat when you fill it, so you have to hang it in a bowl. It seems pretty sturdy to me, but I've only used it once.

Got this for a gift. It was a big hit with the college student studying neuroscience. :) He made the jello with gummy worms. Well received by his classmates.

This is nice thick plastic -- it has just the right amount of flexibility and stiffness. It's larger than life-sized, so makes a good amount of food for a party. It's always a hit at Halloween.
