This should be a Harry Potter tie-in product. Just phenomenal...
Wingardium Leviosa!... and seemingly heavy metallic shapes fly up and float. The shapes are, in fact, very light. I bought Fun Fly Stick for my kids but after trying it myself and then watching them roughly handling "my precious", I decided to buy them something else to ruin and keep the Fly Stick as my office toy. Do not judge me! When you buy the toy you will understand it. It helps me focus on my thoughts and my work while floating shapes. I do not know why it works this way, may be the movement of the flyer in a wave manner in front of my eyes, may be the whirring sound, but the wand does it. Magic Wand and no less. Everyone at my office finds it fascinating and... calming. A few words of caution: The flyers or floaters are super-very-fragilistick. Be ready for expenses on spare floaters.

Not really for little kids... but...,

... my husband sure likes it!! He saw it somewhere on the internet & told me about it, so that's what he got for fathers day.
Our kids (6 & 5yrs old) have tried it... but usually end up getting the "object" stuck on the wall pretty quickly. They like making paper stick to the wall with the FunFly Stick!! It doesn't work AS well when it's raining outside or damp. The "objects" that you can float around are made of super-thin plastic... and they can store flat inside the directions pamphlet (which is where I'd recommend you keep them)! It's a decent buy... but I don't think this would be a good toy to buy anyone under 8yrs old for sure- maybe 10yrs old.

This is a great toy to learn about science. I can see that kids will enjoy it for an hour or two but then the fun wears off as it rather hard for a young child to master. It is probable best in the hands of a teacher or home schooling parent. A number of scientific experiments can be done beside flying the shapes. As the flying objects are very fragile but easily made from a Walmart bag or other similar material I do find it well worth the price.

The Fly Stick is a neat toy to keep around the office or somewhere you are exposed to a large amount of people on a personal level. The fun in this toy is showing it to others as it is most fascinating the first time you see it. Look up videos on youtube for cool things to do and my personal advice is to try taking off your shoes while operating and it will perform better.

I bought this toy for my grandson, however, I tried it before mailing to be sure that it worked as described. The whole family, nieces and nephews loved it and wanted a chance to play. My sister wanted to buy it from me to give as a gift. The kid in you will love it and the kids you love will love it!

this thing is pretty fun with a little practice. I bought one for my 7 year old niece last year. Be carefull of where you use it though. The little floating things are stuck in a static field, so if they touch anything...Like a ceiling... they will stick. Like I said, static field, so you be aware that you are in it too and if anyone touches you they will get a static shock. Not a really strong one, but it is often so beware. younger kids won't appreciate that shock at all. my 3 year old nephew won't go near the thing anymore.

I had seen these on TV in one of those short infomercials where they try to get 19.99 but double the price with the shipping costs. These are the same items. Frankly we got more fun out of these $15 items than we did with any other Christmas present! But I would strongly suggest that you do what we did...buy more than one. We ended up having sort of Star Wars battles using out sticks to push the objects back and forth toward each other. Be advised, children under 10 will most likely not be able to play with these...the floating objects are extremely fragile! Overall a great purchase though!

I just loved this toy when the kids opened it! The only problem is that the silver accessories don not last very long, but I would gladly purchase refills.

I bought this for dad's 91st birthday gift because it is highly esteemed by the physics professors at my local university. I have been told that the lab tech has caught the professors playing with it (they normally use it as a teaching tool for undergraduate and graduate students) when they thought no one was looking. I wish a detailed scientific explanation was included with the instructions so the science-minded could ponder it. My dad loves it, but he would love it more if I could have given him the scientific details of how/why the FunFlyStick works.

Great concept but the toy pooped out for good after 4 hours of play,

We love the concept and it was great seeing the mylar shapes fly about our living room. Unfortunately, the wand died initially after about 1 hour or so of play. Frantically, we contacted Unitech toys and were immediately contaced by a very nice person, Olga, who explained that we needed to 'dissect' the wand and clean the belt. And we did. It again performed well for another hour or so with a repeat performance of the aforementioned issue. This was again corrected and we had perhaps another hour or hour and a half of fun before it decided to fail a third time. Upon dissection one of the wires came off (opening and closing it and all of that) so we ran to the basement to solder it. I quickly wrote to Olga about our continuing saga and she responded that a batch of the grease they had used for the belt apparatus had been frozen and this had changed the desired properties. She graciously said that they would replace the wand but (naturally) we could not find the receipt(we purchased it at the Cal Academy of Sciences Museum in SF). I am certain that the requisite ticket ended up on the floor of our car with the miscellaneous toy packages that were purchased that day and subsequently tossed out).
So, what to do? Buy another one and risk the same events? It is too stressful to contemplate. So we wait. |
