5.0 out of 5 stars American Skinheads
Excellent book for those willing to delve into a theoretically-driven understanding of "racist" skinheads. Probably not a good read for people who are seemingly "angry at the world" and must bash those who try to make a difference in our nation.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another Idiot !!!
I became a skin in 1990 and it never meant being part of a hate group or a racist group. People who think about us as that have never known a real skin and probobly never will, because they spend their scared little lives alone and or among others like themselves. You fear what you do not understand... so let me help you out. A true skinhead is a person who likes good...

This review is from: American Skinheads: The Criminology and Control of Hate Crime (Praeger Series in Criminology and Crime Control Policy) (Paperback)

You fear what you do not understand... so let me help you out. A true skinhead is a person who likes good music, good friends, and a good party. We dress alike, hang close together, and care for each other. We are among you everyday and we pose no threat to anyone unless they bring the fight to us. Period.

1.0 out of 5 stars This Book Made Me Sick, January 24, 2005
This review is from: American Skinheads: The Criminology and Control of Hate Crime (Praeger Series in Criminology and Crime Control Policy) (Paperback)
The title of this book is very misleading. It is about hate crimes not skins.

3.0 out of 5 stars American Skinheads, March 29, 2003

The reviewer, who claims that anyone who is not an academic or social-scientist of one degree or another will be unable to understand the depths of this book, is a prime example of why this book should be read. People who wrap themselves in the pompous cloak of degree-ism--those who defend their opinions by claiming others are not smart enough to understand the intellectual intricacies of their position--are the reason that skinheads are never truly understood by those writing from the safety of their tenured chairs. There is no theory or idea within this book that is above anyone with a highschool reading and comprehension level. The problem with this book could be resolved with a simple change of the title American RASCIST Skinheads.....
As for the reviewer, spare us the condescension, you're attitude is the driving force behind social/economical class-ism in the US today.

1.0 out of 5 stars what a joke, July 11, 2008
I only read the first few pages of this book using the "look inside" feature, but I could smell the BS right away. Being a skin myself (not belonging to any hate groups) I take particular offense to comments about child abuse, scapegoating and apparent satanism. Chances are if the person who wrote this book had ever actually met a skinhead it probably resulted in a vicious beating, or perhaps his abusive father was a skin, who knows.

The idea of this book being written made me shudder. this guy has skinheads made out to be racist, evil peoplehaters with no morals. as a matter of fact, i have been a skinhead for 15 years and i didnt have any clue as to what this man was raving about. it seems to me that he talked to a lot of people who heard stuff about skinheads, but left out the real brothers and sisters of the movement.

1.0 out of 5 stars SKINHEADS ARE NOT RACISTS, January 19, 2000
This review is from: American Skinheads: The Criminology and Control of Hate Crime (Praeger Series in Criminology and Crime Control Policy) (Paperback)
It's so stupid, we skinheads are just as much different as other people! To be a skinhead has nothing to do with being racist!
