An Excellent Set of Color Plates for McCook's Classic Work, September 20, 2011
This review is from: American Spiders and their Spinningwork, Book 2: Color Plates (Paperback)
The color plate volume for McCook's "Spiders and Their Spinning Work," has, along with the text for the original volume, been out of the price range of most people. Coachwhip Publications has produced a well done and inexpensive copy for these impossible to get plates (as well as the text volumes, bound as one, mostly on, but by no means limited to orb-weaving spiders.) The color plates are as fresh as when they were produced and remarkably accurate. The details are quite stunning. If you purchase the text and figure volume you may as well get the color plates as well and you will be treated to a beautiful and enchanting collection of late Nineteenth Century art. If you like spiders or natural history in general this is a remarkable set!
I recommend getting both volumes.
