the Consumer Guide sports-car classic, June 18, 2002
This review is from: American Sports Car (Hardcover)
The editors of Consumer Guide compiled the photos and histories of twenty-eight classic American sports cars, over the nearly 70 years from Mercer and Stutz to Corvette and Cobra; and the result is this 96-page, 8-by-11-inch volume. Most of the photos are black-and-white, with eight colour plates. A must-have for the American sports-car enthusiast.
From the Introduction, a passage that describes the allure of the sports car:
- You hop in your Nash-Healey as the sun comes up on a dewy New England morning. You drive from Bar Harbor to the Cape along twisty back-country roads, and are disappointed when you find your journey's over. You rev up a fuel-injection '57 Corvette in San Francisco and point it north, running flat-out all night up the California coast. These are the joys of sports cars, cars with performance, muscle, and instant reflexes. Driving one, you're never bored.
