Americast Construction

Americast is a revolutionary alternative to cast iron bathtubs exclusively available from American Standard. An americast bath tub features several advantages over a traditional cast iron tub, they are more durable, 50% lighter, and costs less to install. Americast also has several manufacturing benefits allowing the bathtub to be made deeper, flatter, and roomier.

Easy Installation

Installing a American Standard Cambridge bathtub is a job you do not have to keep putting off or making excuses about. With its 32-inch width, the Cambridge fits easily into standard bath alcoves. There is no need to build a supportive platform either as the Cambridge features an integral apron. Meaning your bathroom facing side of the tub is already finished. To allow for a quicker installation, the Cambridge also features an integral tile flange along the three wall sides of the tub. The tile flange allows the tub to stay in place while setting title that meets with the tub. The Cambridge bathtub is designed for easy installation, so you can get the job finished on time and move on to enjoying a bath in your new tub.

Stylish Comfort

Style and comfort come together in the Cambridge's classic design. Complementing the bathtub's gently curved and embracing bathing well, the apron front has a single, linear contour. To give the bathtub a pleasurable bathing experience the Cambridge features a lumbar supportive contour and a beveled headrest. With the American Standard Cambridge your bathroom can be stylish and enjoyable. Now you can have a comfortable place to enjoy soaking away your stressful days.

Designed with You in Mind

Throw away your unsanitary mats. You do not need any tapes to prevent slippage either. For your safety the Cambridge tub's bottom of the bathing well is designed to be fully slip-resistant.

In addition, the Cambridge complies with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) when a bath seat is installed at the drain end of the tub.

I ordered the 5' white right hand drain from a local supplier for my bathroom remodel. I bought this tub because it had a deeper water depth (14" to overflow) than our previous tub, and it didn't have some hideous design on the side. I also have no use for an indoor whirlpool tub, as we have an outdoor hot tub, and as far as I know, it's still not considered wise to use bath oils in a whirlpool.

In having read reviews of other American Standard products, I knew that their White was *not* stark white, which is good, because I really didn't want stark white. However, in trying to see it at my local hardware store was difficult because of the overhead flourescents and bad displays. I knew I wanted a Toto sink and toilet, so I had to make sure everything matched. I tried getting a hold of American Standard, but that was an exercise in futility. I think their phones were down. So I called Toto. Turns out they have chips of their colors, and they knew exactly how theirs matched with American Standard. Toto's Colonial White is identical to American Standard's White. (Side note: Toto customer service was so helpful and friendly, I wanted to buy their products. Sadly they didn't have a tub that would work for me. And I admit to be incredibly picky about customer service.)

American Standard products must sell themselves, because I bought this with only seeing a picture online, reading the PDF for the water depth, and looking at Toto's color chips. American Standard's description only boasts their company and the materials they use. They don't mention the actual features of this tub. So let me help out.

This tub has been installed only a few short weeks so far, but I am in love. Seriously. I put it through a proper test, I shaved my legs.

I purchased this tub from Amazon after failing to find it in 5 major stores in Los Angeles area. I was looking for a 32" tub which would be used primarily as a shower. I tried a 30" Villager at my friends' house and felt like I was in a cage where I could barely move as they also had a glass doors installed. I was still concerned about the space issue and decided not to install glass doors but just use a shower curtain. This Americast looks beautiful, it is spacious enough even to be used with glass doors, and no slip service on the bottom feels very comfortable and not overly rough like in case of some cheap bathtubs. It would be a great tub if it wasn't defective. This hadn't been discovered until a contractor finished tiling a wall behind the tub. It turned out that the edge of the tub facing the wall was not even but dipped as much as 5/16 of an inch in the center of the tub. This defect led to a big gap between the tile and the center of the tub that had to be filled several times with a grout.

This is a video review of the American Standard Cambridge left-drain tub in Linen. (Matches Toto Sedona Beige and Kohler Biscuit) I LOVE this tub! It's easy on the eyes, heavier than acrylic but easy to install, (nothing a couple o' buff contractors can't handle!) and very easy to clean. I originally wanted a cast iron tub since it keeps the water warmer than acrylic, and my goal when I soak is raisin-fingers: So I need it to stay warm. This tub does what cast iron does for less money and half the weight. (this tub weighs in at about 240lbs) I was amazed that I didn't have to keep letting water out to put more hot in. Shipped free with Amazon prime, can't beat that! Check it for chips BEFORE you install! I had no worries: mine came in perfect condition and very quick shipping with prime. We've only had it a few months, so I cannot at this point speak to longevity: But if you take care of it and clean properly, I can't imagine you won't still be lovin' this tub when your fingers are raisins BEFORE you get in!

This is a great tub at a great price! Shallow enough to bath the kids, but deep enough for a nice grown-up soak. Nothing like this was available at my local big box stores. The only drawback is that I find the non-skid patches in the bottom of the tub hard to clean. Even with little use and hard scrubbing they look kind of dingy.

I bought this tub after looking at tons of expensive, impractical soaking tubs. All of those other tubs look cool, but when it came down to it I worried about one thing: water splashing out of the tub. With this much simpler, classic tub I could be sure that my tub surround would capture all of the water.

It was easy to install myself and, having now used it for several months, this tub is great. (I should say that I bought the tub for a complete bathroom remodel.) The tub is deep and, most of all, keeps the water in the tub! That is just too awesome. My only complaint about this tub is the etched bottom. It has some kind of "safety texture" on the bottom that tends to get a bit dirty. Does it add traction? I do not know. Cleaning the bottom every month or so does the trick, so it's really no big deal.

Arrived in good condition but a little late. (It was a long truck trip across the Country.)
Plumber installed without issue. He preferred to put together his own overflow and drain which looks and works well. The deeper tub adds a little "something" extra to the average bathroom. Very happy both with Amazon customer service and with the product. Because the tub is deep, consider installing a grab bar/safety bar to get in and out. Useful even for folks who are not elderly or infirm.
