3.0 out of 5 stars water spots
Bought the Satin Nickel version. The satin finish is beautiful when brand new, but the water spots are prominent after first use. For me the whole point of satin nickel was to reduce the visibility of water spots, compared to a chrome finish. That's not the case, this satin finish spots easily and now people don't think it's a new faucet, after a couple of days of use...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gold Standard in Elegance. American Standard's Chrome Faucet Bathroom Set: A Critical Review., June 2, 2010

*** Conclusion

* American Standard's "Reliant 3 [inch high] Centerset Lavatory Set" is a remarkably beautiful piece of furniture that handsomely upgrades the look of an ordinary bathroom. I don't know how to say it anymore simpler without giving anyone the impression that I'm that kind of man who fusses over trivial things like bathroom fixtures.

The "Centerset" is a one-piece faucet where a single handle controls both the cold/hot water dispenser as well as the water pressure. However it doesn't end there. This, as I'd come to find out, is only half of the set. The other half of the set is a unique drainage piece that attaches to the molding just underneath the sink. The extra piece replaces the standard bar that lift and closes the drainage.

One of the things I also like about this other than the fact that this beautiful Chrome faucet is quite heavy to hold on it's own is that the set is almost thoroughly made from a heavy weight steel. I've never replaced a faucet set before and was really unaware at how fast the parts--the cheap set that comes installed from your home-builder--cracks and deteriorates. (see picture images from video). It took a couple of days and $25 later to have a handyman and his tools pry apart that cheap p.c.b. screws and washers that fixes the faucet to the face bowl. After removing the corroded pieces, installation was about 30 minutes from start to finish.

** Working in retail for more than two decades I can confidently tell you that quality is the cheapest thing you can buy. This is certainly true with this product. Having the standard faucet set right next to the American Standard is like an old Ford Pinto parked next to Lexus. There's just no legitimate comparison. The set runs, as of this review, at $65 here on Amazon. This is a very good price for the set. It is a great investment that will save you money over time when considering the replacement cost, labor and traveling expense to your local Home Depot. Plus it upgrades the look of your bathroom. You really don't get the sense of it by just looking at the picture of the set, you first have to look at what you have now. Turn on and off the faucet. Then do the same with this unit. You'll see an immediate difference in the look and feel of your bathroom.

There is a downside, however. Once the lady comes over and see it, she'll now want you to change everything in the bathroom like money grows on trees. I don't know what'll be cheaper re-doing the bathroom or building an outhouse and telling your lady, "We're going green!"

*** If you own a home and you need to change the faucet set in a bathroom, especially if it's in the Master bedroom or a Guest bedroom, then American Standard's "Reliant Centerset Lavatory Set" is a phenomenal buy. Five gargantuan stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Faucet in Polished Chrome, September 10, 2010
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I have always trusted American Standard products in my bathrooms. I am on my third owned home and always have owned and trusted American Standard.

I decided to use this to replace a dated Delta Faucet in my guest/baby bathroom. The Delta faucet was as old as my house which was about 30 years. It not only looked bad, it had a big plastic handle that was so old looking I debated about replacing just that had I not replaced the whole faucet. I was hoping to replace the faucet myself but had to seek help from my father in law since I am 9 moths pregnant and fitting under the sink just did not seem like a good idea, plus I would not fit. Install time took about an hour, maybe a little less. That is from removing the old faucet to replacing it with the new. I was surprised that just basic tools were needed and no trips to the hardware store. I was surprised at how quickly the removal/install took with no problems along the way. We had replaced the other bathroom faucet with a no name brand and the other faucet did not line up with the water hoses and we ended up calling a plumber and spent a lot more money. For the price of this faucet and to know how easy it was to install was well worth it!

Once it was hooked up I could not stop looking at it. It looks more elegant and modern in the sink than in the box. The water pressure seems lower but runs very nicely. I have been using it for several weeks now and have no complaints! I took several pictures of the faucet, please see the image gallery to get an idea of the profile and stopper area.

I would highly recommend this faucet for the novice plumber. It is simple to install and looks beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars American Standard Bathroom Faucet, May 25, 2010
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I liked the style of the faucet and I must say that it looks even better than the picture shows. Now, having never installed a faucet before, this would be my main sticking point because aesthetically speaking, it works for me, but how many times am I going to swear up a storm putting it into place? Well I must say that installation was ridiculously easy. The crystal clear instructions were excellent and it came together with ease. As I stated, I'm not well versed in installing facets, so I'm not sure if they are all easy or if it's just this one but I can definitely attest to the ease of this model. Also included is the new drain which is great, it's nice to have a plunger that actually stays down and allows the water to stay in the sink. I had also wondered about the water flow and if it would be a considerable difference and enough to make me dislike the faucet, because I do not want a weak, drippy faucet, but I really do not see much of a difference between this ergonomic model and my previous stock faucet, which is good. If it will save me any money on my water bill remains to be seen, as well as the durability of the faucet, but as it stands right now, it is a very solid faucet and very pleasing to look at. I can't ask for much more beyond that so this is exactly what I needed.

Overview:

Looks great, easy to install, and it looks like it will last for a long time to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice., November 23, 2010
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I like the "high rise" design of this faucet, and the angle at which the water comes out. These make it much easier to use than the old faucet I had, which kept the water flow very close to the back of the sink.

Installation is easy, with very nice, large flanges on the nuts for easy tightening. (Getting the old faucet off was a major chore because that one was not designed so nicely.)

The finish is also very nice. Time will tell, but hopefully it won't corrode around the edge like my old (name brand!) faucet did.

I would recommend this highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very easy installation and beautiful faucet, June 22, 2010
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This faucet is beautiful and elegant. It's very sturdy.

66 minutes beginning to end included the removal of the old faucet and drain. All of the parts fit in the standard faucet fittings that we were replacing. For some reason the hot water hose was much tighter than the cold water hose even though the cold water had to cross the pipes and travel several inches further than the left hose. They looked the same size to the eye but by time it became a problem, it was too late to measure them.

This faucet solves several problems. The position of the stopper lever is higher so that it goes above the backboard of the sink which was a problem with our old faucet. The drain stopper is also a very good weight and very strong. We also have a hot water problem - too hot - caused by the water heater being located directly below the bathroom. Having hot and cold handles with children in the house meant that every once in a while there would be a screech from the bathroom. This is pretty much a self-correcting problem for the children but not the adults who get very hot water fairly often.

The only problems were caused by the plumber (me). A smarter person would have opened the faucet to drain the water out before opening the line. On the other hand, being sprayed with hot water in the face while stuck under the sink can be oddly pleasant. My only other problem was in the existing plumbing and involved a leaky shut off valve that needs to be replaced. I don't think that I've ever done a plumbing job that didn't involve an emergency run to the hardware store. It would be nice to know in advance what part of the old plumbing is going to go bad. Plumbing is always so straightforward. You look at where the water starts and where it ends and figure out how you want it to get there.

And only one injury: a broken toenail. I can't explain it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Styleish, works fine., June 3, 2010
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I like this faucet: I wanted one for the bathroom that was nice than what was there when I moved in. My bathroom faucet has the seperate hot and cold knobs, and the spout is much too close to the back of the sink. The knobs have little grooves and lines in them - which are a total pain to clean. This replacement was nice- it has a longer spout, but not so long that it's too much for the bathroom. It's a piece of cake to clean - notice the smooth surfaces - no hidden areas for grime to sit untouched.

Installing it was easy enough - well, easy as a sink faucet can be. I hate crawling down there setting everything in place and hooking it all up. I've installed a couple faucets in my time - but this one was the easiest for two main reasons: First: The way you screw the faucet to the sink is done by hand using these huge things your screw onto the bolts. They were awesome - big enough to grip and get a nice tight fit on. Second: The way the drain opener screws onto the pipe is also done by hand - and is just so awesome. No messing about there. I really thought this one installed easier than any others I've done. Instructions were fine and when all was said and done: worked like a charm - operates smoothly. Also - you can adjust the hot/cold percentage by popping off the top of the thing. Pretty cool.

Definitely recommend this one, folks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice faucet, easy to install, June 1, 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is a beautiful chrome solid faucet - for the price you can't beat it. I was concerned it would be a tricky install with the one reviewer who seemed to have so much trouble. My husband is pretty handy and has installed several faucets in our home but he said this one was a breeze. It is a nice replacement for our previous older faucet and I really like the design of the handle - good water flow, all you could want in a bathroom faucet. Overall I would definitely recommend this faucet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great faucet, May 20, 2010
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This has proved a perfect replacement faucet for an old piece of hardware that was on our bathroom sink for 25 years, and leaked like crazy until we replaced it.

It's terrific to have a single control for hot and cold water alike --- less parts to break, less parts to leak, and more control in one handle.

Installation went fine. I am not sure why another reviewer thought otherwise.

We had no problems, but for those who do, I recommend calling American Standard at 800-442-1902 for assistance.

I can't understand how anyone could be unhappy with this terrific replacement faucet. It's great, all the way around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, November 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This faucet is very nice looking and is quite heavy compared to my old Moen faucet. The chrome is nice and I like the single lever. It was very easy to install. My biggest problem was getting the old drain pipe out of the sink!

Note - the compression hoses are 16" long, so if your water supply lines are farther away than that, you'll have to buy extra compression hoses and couplers to connect the two (approx. $8-$10).

Love the design of the drain plug connector.

This faucet has rounded corners (my old faucet was more rectangular), so I can see a little bit of discoloration on the vanity top where the corners used to be. Not a big deal, though.

3.0 out of 5 stars water spots, September 7, 2011

This review is from: American Standard 7385.000.295 Reliant 3 Single Control Centerset Faucet with Metal Lever Handle, Satin Nickel (Tools & Home Improvement)
Bought the Satin Nickel version. The satin finish is beautiful when brand new, but the water spots are prominent after first use. For me the whole point of satin nickel was to reduce the visibility of water spots, compared to a chrome finish. That's not the case, this satin finish spots easily and now people don't think it's a new faucet, after a couple of days of use. Sure, I could wipe it down with a clean paper towel after each use, but I wanted something that would not spot as easily to begin with. Other than that, it's a high quality product, very easy to install. Larger and bulkier looking than I imagined, it probably won't go well with a small sink. The underside of the arc is plastic, but all the other surfaces are metal.
