5.0 out of 5 stars The NASB is a "full-color" translation; but, understandable., August 24, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Bib New American Standard Economy Gift and Award Imitation Blue Leather (Paperback)
New American Standard Bible (NASB): This version is considered to be the most literally-accurate translation. This has certain advantages, especially if one is reading for the deepest possible understanding. Such reading, however, may not be possible for new believers. "Shifting gears" from the current, post-constructionalist, even "post-modern" culture may require becoming acquainted with the Bible by means of an easier translation. Once such an acclimation has been made, however, it becomes easier to appreciate the truths of the Bible at their deepest levels by means of a translation which keeps the lofty feel of reverance in language; but, does so without losing the reader in the clouds of antiquated verbiage. The NASB is constructed in the American usage of the English language; but, retains the ancient "feel" in its linguistics. It does not, for example, translate such things as "30 pieces of silver" into its modern equivalent, as do some other translations.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wrong classification!, June 13, 2000
This review is from: Bib New American Standard Economy Gift and Award Imitation Blue Leather (Paperback)
I was looking for books on the current conditions of the American economy and discovered this marvelous treat--an American Bible! Obviously the computer picked up the words American Standard Economy and turned this very religious text into a treatise on Mammon! Just thought you might want to know.
