Ditto to the first review. As the first reviewer pointed out, the pages of this bible are sewn. A minor rant on physical quality: A few weeks ago I started looking for a replacement for a worn out 25 year old bible (also NASB). Just about every hardcover bible I looked at, all versions, at Borders had pages glued to the spine, not sewn. This is _not_ _acceptable_ in a hardbound book that I'm going to be paying [$$] and up (sometimes way up) for and using continually. Even some of the leatherbound bibles were like this. Only Oxford and Cambridge seemed to be doing it the right way. I wouldn't call this type "large print". The maps could be nicer (in black and white, not color). The cover boards are covered with some kind of plastic (I'd rather they were cloth). At [$the price] this is a bargain.

For those readers who do not have knowlege of either Hebrew or Greek, this is generally considered the most accurate of translations available. But be prepared for uncommon style. The NASB is more readable than the KJV, but similar to the NKJV, although it draws on more eclectic manuscript evidence. The Lockman Foundation is the proprietor of this translation and has retained the faithfulness of the 1977 version, while updating the archaic remnants of the NAS (1901). The Smyth-sewn binding is a rare commodity in bookbinding these days, providing a long-lasting, quality book. Black letter version is increasingly harder to find, and this is a plus as well.

I am very pleased with this Bible. (I have the blue hardcover editon.) Having the references in the side column is a wonderful idea! It makes reading a pleasure. Add to that the single column format, and we definitely have a winner! My only regret is that I didn't save up for the leather bound editon. :) BTW, the NASB is an incredible translation. If you're accustomed to the NIV, give it a try. You won't be sorry. J. Swartz

Only the ISBN 10 version (0-910618-46-1) is the Wide Margin version. The accompanying ISBN 13 (976-0-910618-46-5) on the web page is the non Wide Margin version. The Amazon description has Wide Margin but lists the two ISBN's as shown. If you want the Wide Margin as advertised, insist on them checking the ISBN 10 for the number ending in 1. It's on the back outside cover, etched in silver. Also the ISBN-13 version is glued, and the ISBN-10 wide margin edition is sewn.

This would have been a five star review except for one reason...and it may be reason enough to reduce it to one star. Why? Printed in China by Amity. Many Bible publishers do this (Crossway, for example...I discovered this when I ordered a Bible for my wife), so I'm not going to knock this down below four stars.
My previous Foundation Publication NASB (printed in the U.S.A.) was becoming tattered and I decided to find another Bible only to realize something. It's difficult to find an NASB Bible that includes: Black letter (no Jesus' words in red nonsense) Single column with references on the side Smythe sewn Readable text Concordance Full color maps I guarantee you will find to get any combo of those features in an NASB, you will be getting a red letter version...if you don't purchase one from Foundation Publications. This edition also has summary introductions for each book of the Bible...get this, in the back of the Bible. This is great as it doesn't intrude upon the Word, but it's there for a reference if you want it. This is a gem of a Bible and I recommend it. This is a durable edition as a hard back and affordable. I'm buying a second I'm so pleased with it and will be having it rebound in leather...why? It's difficult finding a black letter, single column quality NASB...not even Alan or Cambridge offer black letter single column...so I'll be having Ace bookbinding fix me up.

For quite some time, I have been looking for a side-column reference NASB Bible to replace my RSV Bible. Generally, I am pleased with my purchase; however, if I were to design the layout I would slightly reduce the size of print, provide wider margins for making personal notes, and reduce the page size to 5-1/2"x8-1/2". The overall format and presentation of information is quite acceptable. Of course, if Foundations Publications or any other publisher would incorporate my preferences, I would probably be interested.

Great layout with two column format which makes it a quick process to find the verse our Pastor requires us to turn to and is a good size for me. Not too thick or big, but big enough to read. The only thing I wish it had was more blank page space at outer margin so I could write notes about verses. The other thing I don't see in there is the "Introductions to the books of the bible" which is just a one paragraph summary of each book, kind of nice to have in a bible. I recommend this product and with the low price, you can't beat it.
