when the book said love story i thought it was going to be one of jackie's regular sleep around love story, but surprisingly this was a book of true love and not just true lust. great book i couldnt put down. =)

I read this book several years ago and I still remember how good it was. So juicy.

Jackie Collins is an expert at writing stories about people in the fast lane, rich beyond belief & people who start from nothing and make themselved into starts. This book is about all of that, with some love & lust thrown in.

If you're looking for a good book to pass the time with, one that has an outrageous story, you've found it!

This book is the typical love story, at first Nick and Lauren meet, then the problems begin and keep going on until God says: from now on everything will be fine, and everything is fine. Nevertheless, the book will keep you reading page after page and willing to know what will happen in the next page.
In this book you will learn two or three things, for example what can a rich man do with your life if you are not strong enough to get out of his life (Lauren with her husband).
Almost everything written in this love story could be real, is a very good book.

American Star is about the story of two people: Nick Angel, one of the hottest actors in Hollywood; and Lauren Roberts, The Face of the Decade. Their story starts when they are in highschool, growing up in Kansas in a small town called Bosewell. Nick Angelo comes from a broken home and lives on the wrong side of the tracks. Lauren has a home life that seems to be perfect. Yet the two meet and become star crossed lovers. Tragedy breaks them apart, and years later they meet up again. Both had moved on, yet neither of them had forgotten the other.

In between the story of Nick and Lauren, there are other sub plots: Nick's step sister Cyndra and her struggle to become a famous singer; an accidental death; and of course the usual sex and drugs that comes with any Jackie Collins novel.

I enjoyed this book very much. I'd say this is one of Jackie Collins' better novels. It read well, and I liked the characters she portrayed in the book. I wouldnt' mind reading a sequel to this novel.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! I JUST FINISHED READING IT FOR THE SECOND TIME. ITS AMAZING HOW JACKIE COLLINS CAN CREATE A WORLD, A WORLD THAT YOU JUST DONT WANT TO LEAVE. THE CHARACTERS IN THIS BOOK ARE SO REAL THAT YOU FEEL LIKE YOUVE KNOWN THEM FOREVER. THIS BOOK IS LIKE A DRUG, YOU WONT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN, I GUARANTEE THAT! I CRIED FOR THE SECOND TIME AND IM A LITTLE DEPRESSED SO IVE GOT TO FIND A NEW JACKIE COLLINS TO READ!!!

American Star is simply fantastic. There are no other words for it. It has everything a reader could possibly want from a good read. It's not typical Collins. American Star tells a love story which I found completely unforgettable. It's trully stunning.
There is something for everybody in here: teen romance, forbidden love, tradgedy and of course, fantastic sex as only Jackie can write it! Besides that, we are thrown deep into a world that few dare to tread. Jackie deals with many serious issues including sexual abuse and abortion. There are many twists and amazing characters. Trust me, if you've read Collins before, or if you're looking for something with everything, read American Star. It's absolutely fantastic.

What an amazing book. Solid plot and characters were present all the way through, keeping my interest until the last page. You will be unable to put the book down due to creative twists and turns. Jackie Collins wrote perfection with this book!

NOT READY TO SHARE HER SECRETS WITH ANY ONE, LAUREN DECIDES TO MOVE ON.DETERMINED NOT TO GIVE UP ON THEIR LOVE AND HAVE ANYTHING TO COME BETWEEN THEM, NICK CONFESSES AND SHOWS HOW HE FEELS FOR LAUREN.

This was the best book Jackie Collins ever wrote, and I've read every one of them. I loved Nick and Lauren's star-crossed love story, and the mystery surrounding Cyndra was top-notch. Ooh, it was such a good book. Ooh, it made me go to the store and buy "Power." Reading Jackie Collins is like eating chocolate eclairs. Gooey and fun. Ooh. Ooh,yummy Jackie Collins is the best glitz novel writer there is.
