A Kid's Review
This review is from: American Tall Tales: Legend of Sleepy Hollow [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is yet another delightful episode in the "American Tall Tales & Legends" series created by talented
Shelley Duvall. This is one of the most beloved video series ever. It combines humour, horror, romance and adventure, along with spellbinding history, to create amazing episodes in this amazing series.
This is The Legend of Sleepy Hollow starring Ed Begley Jr. as Ichobad Crane, the new schoolmaster in Tarrytown, a place near the creepy place called Sleepy Hollow. Ichobad steps out of his New York home on foot to walk more than 500 miles through the dark woods to get to his new job. On the way, he meets Tofu Van Tassel (Charles Durning), the uncle of the beautiful maiden, Katrina Van Tassel (Beverly D'Angelo) whom Crane falls in love with at first sight, as does Katrina bond to Crane. Unfortunately, Brom Bones, Katrina's current suitor, seems to suffer from jealously as Katrina prefers Crane over Bones. So, to get back on Crane, Brom sets out with a group of friends to try and scare Ichobad out of Tarrytown and win Katrina for himself. Finally, on Halloween night, Ichobad comes face to face with the so-called Legend of Sleepy Hollow (which everybody reading this review should know about)...the headless highwayman! What will happen next?
This is the best adaptation of the classic by Washington Irving who also wrote Rip Van Winkle which Shelley Duvall recreated in Faerie Tale Theatre. It takes place in actual settings (United States is where the episode was filmed) and the acting is wonderful as is the screenplay. This film appears as a soap-opera for families. It is following the tradition of Faerie Tale Theatre. The costumes are super.
The bottomline is that The Legend of Sleepy Hollow from American Tall Tales & Legends is one of my favorite movies and good news for Amazon.com is that I might think of buying it... I am so glad that you guys carry this movie.
By the way, Ms. D'Angelo is so incredibly beautiful and her personality in the movie is so sweet.
Begley Jr. is so hilarious in his role. His skiddish personality is so funny.
And Charles Durning as Tofu is wickedly funny!

One of this series best! The actors work well with one another. The viewer is kept drawn in by the suspense. And the humor is delightful. It is one of my family's favorite Fall specials and I'm glad to have found it on video at Amazon.com!

I saw this at a friends house and it was a very stupid movie.so if you have any sense, unless you buying it for a 3 year old don't buy it.
