5.0 out of 5 stars Right product for the job.
I liked the way this solder worked for my electronics project. I had no issues at all. It melted quickly, held fast and is nice and shiny. It is nice when a product works like it is supposed to work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what was pictured
I received this item in the mail today. Strangly enough, it was not what was pictured. The item I received was "Made in Mexico" and titled AlphaFry.
I feel it is very important to purchase USA made items and thought this was kind of tricky.
I don't appreciate the false advertisement.

4.0 out of 5 stars Made in Mexico?, July 10, 2009

Like others have said, solder is solder. I ordered this product for one reason. If you look at the picture, the label clearly says "Made in U.S.A." The product I received wasn't in the exact same packaging. Although, it appears to be the same company. Instead of "alphametals," it's "alphafry" (same font and everything...looks the same) ...and it's "Made in Mexico." So much for supporting the home team. :( Oh well.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good all-purpose electrical solder..., June 26, 2008

Got this, then someone asked me what "40/60 rosin core solder" means. Simply put, it means that it's composed of 40% tin, 60% lead, and has a rosin flux contained in the wire core. Think that I learned this on an episode of Tim Allen's Home Improvement: The Complete Eighth Season, but am not too sure.

All of this really means is that this is a good, general purpose solder designed for most electrical/electronic work, and that the flux residue is non-corrosive.

Rosin Core Solder American Terminal / B00030AP48

It's been awhile since I've had to buy solder, and I bought this mainly on the strength of the purchase price. It's a little thick, but melts nicely (I used Black & Decker CI500S Dual-Temperature Soldering and Craft Iron) and I'm impressed with how quickly and cleanly it melts. I've used this to successfully solder in new batteries for my Gameboy games, and I couldn't be happier.

Simply put, this is awesome solder for all sorts of uses.

It comes in a sturdy case (unlike the spring style tubes which i hate) and is nice and easy to use.

I definitely give it an A+ for everything I've done with it.

Hi quality solder, I used it to replace the switches in a 225/125 Lincoln Arc Welder,
A difficult job, 100% successful repair.
I augment the rosin core with liquid rosin flux from a bottle I buy at the electronics store.

How do you review a consumable? This stuff worked like solder is supposed to work. All of the electrical connections that I have made with it so far have been perfectly satisfactory.

It came as expected and does what it's supposed to do. It is, indeed, made in Mexico, too -- not the U.S.A. Three stars because there's nothing wrong with this product, but also nothing outstanding about it.
