Transmission Jack Adapter,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Transmission Adapter Jack (Misc.)
We've used the Transmission Jack Adapter once while changing the clutch in my son's truck. Had trouble with the chain staying attached but that was no big deal. The only heads up I can give is that using a transmission jack adapter takes up alot of room, so keep that in mind and make sure you've got enough room to move the transmission around once you've got it unbolted from the engine. We had the truck up on ramps and it was still a tad tight. Function and quality of the adapter was great. I'd recommend this product.

Trans Jack Adapter - Read Before Buying,
By K. Rybka (Waukegan, IL USA) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Transmission Adapter Jack (Misc.)
I bought this jack adapter to install a trans in my Nissan Sentra. It was delivered promptly from the seller, and received in 3-4days. It is a good price at $[...] buck and $[...] in shipping. It is constructed of heavy duty steel and is of good quality, except for the chain, which I felt was kind of short.
You will need to assemble it, which is fairly easy to do as long as you have a snap ring tool, which I did not so I had to buy one adding to expense. After assembly, I mounted this on my 2 ton jack and proceeded to mount my Nissan Sentra trans onto the platform. I had some problems attaching the chain, and when I moved the trans jack, the chain slipped off and the trans shifted. I moved it into position and to my dismay it was too high to clear the hole in the wheel well. I jackup up the car using my other jack and moved the jack stand up to the highest level and I still could not maneuver it into position. The adapter adds about 5-6 inches to your current jack height (its big), and my jack has a minimum of 5-6 in. in its lowest position, then add the trans on top for another 15 in. and your talking 20-22 in. of clearance. I was not able to clear it, so I was not able to use the product for my trans installation. I ended up at the rental store, rented a trans jack of shop quality for $21 for 3 hours ($[...] a day). This product might work if you have a truck or have a second jack which is for SUV's which allows you to jack it up higher get the extra clearance so you can maneuver the trans into position.

save money on a transmission jack.,

If you have a standard floor jack this adaptor is a real money/time/work saver. I've removed/installed transmissions with just a floor jack or bottle jack, and a regular transmission jack, and the adapter jack is a economical/servicible compromise.
