Rob Carter
Rob Carter is Professor of Typography and Graphic Design at Virginia Commonwealth University. He has also served as Visiting Professor at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Numerous design awards include those from the American Institute of Graphic Arts, New York Type Directors Club, New York Art Directors Club, Society of Typographic Arts, Creativity, and Print. He is author of American Typography Today, the five-volume Working with Type series, and Digital Color and Type. With Philip B. Meggs, he authored Typographic Design: Form and Communication (five editions) and Typographic Specimens: The Great Typefaces. His most recent book, Meggs: Making Graphic Design History celebrates the life and work of his colleague and friend, Philip B. Meggs. The design of this book was recently included in the prestigious International Design Review.
