Great CD/Missing Song list,
By
This review is from: American Wedding (Audio CD)
This an awesome CD. Lots of great songs and if you liked the previous AP soundtracks you'll like this. In additon to the usual popular hits there are also some great romantic songs on this album like "Honey & The Moon" by Joseph Arthur (played when Jim & Michelle walk down the beach) and "Into The Mystic" which is at the end of the movie. They should definitly do another soundtrack as there is are a large number of good songs they weren't able to fit on the CD. Since there have been numerous questions about this, here is a list of most of those songs. I'll still working on finding out 2 or 3. When Finch is doing recon to find out about the wedding dress 1-You Were Right by Badly Drawn Boy When the scene cuts to Chicago 2-I Want To Die A Beautiful Death by Everclear From the dance-off in the gay bar 3-Maniac by Michael Sembello 4-Heaven Is a Place On Earth by Belinda Carlisle. 5-Sweet Dreams by The Eurythmics 6-Venus by Banarama 7-The Reflex by Duran Duran Following the dance-off when they meet Leslie 8-Round Round by The Sugababes The main song during the bachelor party 9-I See You Baby(Fat Boy Slim Remix)by Groove Armada When Jim & Michelle are walking on the beach 10-The Long Day Is Over by Norah Jones When Stifler & The football team bring in the new flowers 11-Time For Heros by The Libertines When Everyone dances at the reception 12-Into The Mystic by Van Morrison A cover by The Wallflowers is on the soundtrack. Still trying to find out the song when the Stippers are introduced (it has "let's groove in it) and the opening song in the gay bar which is called "Read My Lips". There are several songs with that title though so I don't know which one it is.

Terrific, but not exactly perfect. My only problem is that most of the tracks in the movie are from mainstream bands or were already on the radio the previous year, so you probably already have the songs on a CD. Examples? "Bouncing off the Walls" by Sugarcult, "The Hell Song" by Sum 41 and "The Art of Losing" by American Hi-Fi. Then there are some older songs from years 1999-2001 before American Pie 2 was even out--for example, "Freakin' You" by Jungle Brothers. The song is only played in the 'Wedding' Unrated version, and was also in Todd Philips' 2000 adventure comedy Road Trip. What's the point of putting out soundtrack that's basically a mix tape of pop songs the year before, though? I must admit, even though the soundtrack is a lot of pop/mainstream, it uses a lot of underground music and 2003 tracks. "Summertime Girls" by Baha Men came out on a 2004 CD, by the way. Closing this review, the album isn't really worth buying if you've ever turned on a radio in the past 2½ years. If you haven't watched MTV in the last 3 years and really love the songs from the movie, go ahead and buy. Otherwise, [*pbbft*]. Might as well buy NOW Volume Seventeen or something.

"Wedding" present - straight from Band Camp,
By Pat Kelly (Here, There & Everywhere) - See all my reviews
This review is from: American Wedding (Audio CD)
Usually rock music soundtracks consist of leftover, 2nd or 3rd rate tracks by mediocre artists. This is especially so for both comedies and sequels. American Wedding, the 2nd sequel to American Pie, neatly breaks that tradition by including some really great tracks. These include genuine hits from the Foo Fighters, Good Charlotte & Sum 41. And up & coming hits from The All-American Rejects, GOB, and Hot Action Cop. For extra flava, there's Matt Nathanson's cover of the James classic Laid, and The Wallflower's version of Van Morrison's poetic Into The Mystic. Throw in the first new music from Avril Lavigne in a year, and you got the Mopo soundtrack of the summer. Well done, people! Even if you have no intention of seeing the movie, this album is worth getting.

Bachlor Party song,

The song when the girls first come into the bachlor party IS "Summertime Girls" by the Baha Men!! It's listed in the credits at the end of the movie. As far as I can find it's not on any album as of yet and I have yet to find it on any download sites. But I assure you this is the name of the song and The Baha Men ARE the ones who sing it.

Before the movie,

Before you see the movie, you'll want to hear this CD. The songs vary, of course, but mainly stay on with a punk vibe. Most notably are Sugarcult, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Foo Fighters, and Avril Lavigne. For those of you who are fans of these groups, I would suggest buying this album. As far as soundtracks go, this is one of the better ones. Calling You by Blue October and Honey & the Moon by Joseph Arthur are some of the most romantic songs I've heard in my life, and place perfectly near the end. As for the rest in the beginning, if you're buying this CD, I'm very assured that you know how wonderful these groups are. But since hearing this album, I have become a fan of Matt Nathanson (who does the song Laid on this soundtrack), and Nu. As well as the other two mentioned previously. All in all, this is a wonderful punk/rock/pop sountrack to a probably funny, and romantic, movie. This soundtrack has convinced me to see a movie I previously would have disregarded. That, to me, says a lot.

Greg,I think the song you are referring to is "Laid" by Matt Nathanson. The song appears at the end credits and seems to be the one used for all the promotional stuff and also appears on the dvd menu. The song was originally done by an artist called "James" a few years ago. Great song!

Pretty Good,

I bought this CD because the movie had some very good songs in it. I was amazed at how good the soundtrack was. True, they did leave out a few songs, but there are only a certain amount of songs you can fit in one CD. I think that they should make a second soundtrack like the makers of Grand Theft Auto III did. A few songs in this CD were kind of bad, but other than that, the CD was fine. If I were you, I advise you to buy this CD, but if you do, keep an eye out for some of the songs. Here are my ratings: Foo Fighters-Times Like These-9/10 |
