I purchased this scale to weigh salts for beer brewing. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. The scale is accurate, keeps it's calibration (I got the 500gram calibration weight), and repeatable. I have checked the calibration several times over the year plus I have owned it, it has not needed re-calibration yet. The buttons and back-lit LED display are logically laid out and work well. For $9, this scale is a steal, I am very happy with it.

** NOTE ** Amazon keeps trying to bundle this scale with 100gram calibration weights. This scale (1000gram scale) requires the 500gram calibration weights.

Pros:
- Accurate (I weighed and reweighed a number of items, weight was always consistent and accurate)
- Sensitive, Breathing over scale will cause weight to change. Put scale on hard heavy surface (granite counter-top is ideal) and avoid air currents if you are having problems with weight fluctuating.
- Keeps calibration over long periods of time
- Auto shutoff feature is nice

Cons:
- Case/lid is cheap plastic. Given the price point, I don't consider this to be a problem but it deserves mention
- Removable weighing surface would be nice for cleaning purposes
- Batteries unit came with where really cheap and only lasted 15-20 minutes of use

My son is diabetic and all his food must be weighed. This little scale is perfect for keeping in his supply pack and taking with us to visit friends, to restaurants, etc. I weighed a nickle with it when it arrived - 5 grams just the way it should be. It even weighs in tenth of grams so I know if I want to round up or down on the carb counts. Perfect scale - runs on AAA batteries and has an empty battery compartment that I used to store an extra set of batteries!

The easiest way to evenly divide skeins of yarn is with a digital scale. This one works perfectly. It's small and easy to store with the rest of your knitting supplies. The actual scale surface is very small so you need to place a bowl on it to hold the yarn. But the scale also has a "tare" button that zeros out the scale with the bowl on it so you get the weight of the yarn only.

This is a great little gadget and the price is perfect.

The scale itself worked fine until I tried to calibrate it with a 50g weight I had purchased for this task. The trouble was, the scale thought that was 500 grams, so now the readings were way off. Fortunately, I could calibrate the scale using a pile of quarters to estimate the 500g weight, and after every calibration, I'd weight the 50g weight. If it was low, I'd recalibrate using less quarters. Eventuality, 50g showed 50g on the scale.

So, the moral of the story is to order the 500g weight up front so you can do the calibration in one step. The scale doesn't let you select your calibration weight, so you must use the 500g one.

The scale has a nice tare feature. You put your dish on the scale, then press tare. This resets the scale to show 0 grams. Then, whatever you add to the plate will be measured because the scale has already done the subtraction for the weight of the dish.

As for precision, sometimes the 500g weight shows up at 500.1 grams or the 50g weight will show up as 49.9. So, the scale seems accurate to +- 0.1 grams.

I use the scale for compounding vitamins and if I am not careful, the scale will think I'm done and shut itself off with the auto-off feature. So, I have to turn it back on again and resume the process.

Other than that, it works ok. I would have preferred a balance beam scale (without batteries), like from science class, but again, this scale lets me get the job done with a minimum of inconvenience (and at a low price).

Very nice scale and very affordable. I have no reference to judge its accuracy, but the scale is very precise so far. Objects weigh the same regardless of positioning on the scale, too. It looks very professional in general, but the buttons are clearly cheaply made. They will likely wear out and are difficult to push; so far, no problems. Mine was silver plastic, not black as pictured.

UPDATE: Still going strong after nearly 3 years, though I only use it rarely (so I still can't speak to the buttons' longevity for sure). It still weighs objects precisely when measured repeatedly, even if I weigh other things, turn the scale off and on, re-position the object as cockeyed as possible, and weigh it again.

I have purchased this same brand of scale before and always thought it was a great value for the money. The ones I bought before never gave me any issues, this one however seems to be one of the ones that was assembled Friday right before quitting time. Here are the things this one does: 1) very slow to register weight added onto device 2) will weigh the same object at various weights when measured numerous times 3) objects weigh out differently depending on where on the tray you put them 4) display crystal is super sensitive to cold temperatures

I use this in the kitchen to get better measurements in baking and also with some molecular gastronomy. So far it has worked well. I also have a 500 gram calibration weight, and the scale continues to hold its calibration. My only minor complaint with this product is that the weighing platform is not removable; it would be much easier to keep clean if the platform was removable. Otherwise, this has been a good buy; a quality product at a reasonable price.
