Tanita weight 80.9kg, fat 13.1% water 60.2% Muscle 66.8kg bone 3.5kg
Bioweigh weight 81.1kg fat 13.3% water 65.4% Muscle 35.84 Bone 3.0kg
AS you can see, the only big difference was the muscle mass, and I like the Bioweigh better here because my body is note 66.8/80.9= 83% muscle. As a disclaimer, I live in Germany, and "MuskelMasse" is what it says on the printout there. It is easy to use, it is pretty fast, and it is consistent with itself. It also looks well made and doesn't feel cheap at all. Software is easy to use too. Others may be more polished, but five stars for comparable accuracy and low price.
It is a bargain and weight seems accurate to 0.2 pounds. I think the Fat%, Muscle% and Bone-weight calculations are only interesting fiction that varies depending on if you just took a shower or not.
Yes you have to tap it to wake it up, and it calibrates to 0 in 2 seconds. You can tap the top to just take a weight reading without recording, or you can tap a button to select a user 1-10, then take a weight reading which records the day, weight, fat, muscle, water, bone.
It has worked on my rechargeable NiMh batteries for a couple of months at least.
It's an LCD display and there is no backlight. The icons display is a little hard to see from standing height but the weight and numbers are easy to read.
The software is kinda awful but it works. And you can export the stored data to Excel/.XLS . Each user has to login to the software seperately.
Considering the price, it is perfect.
UPDATE: weeelll two years later? the USB download feature no longer works for me. The regular weighing functions still work.
The scale once tapped ON acts as a normal scale to measure just weight. It does not display any of the other parameters unless the set button is first pushed to select the User designation and then you weigh yourself on the scale. This makes sense as the parameters for Fat%, Water %, Muscle%, Bone weight are all dependent on user's height and age (I guess). But the problem is this is not explained in the manual. So when I tried to get my comprehensive details, I could not get it to work as the scale was not displaying the BMI calculation. So I thought the scale was defective or stopped working and was almost going to return it. I think the manual should be more clearer on steps.
The WeightTrak software that comes with it has a problem with Importing data as the buttons for this is not visible as shown in manual. It is some kind of monitor resolution problem that I have not seen in any other software on my computer except this. So I had to find a way to get it to import and that is as follows.
On the "Import Scale Data" window, when your user name is selected or highlighted, count 1 and press Tab key once, then count 2 and press Tab key second time.. Like that Count till 4 and press Tab key the 4th time and then hit Enter key. The data import will work now. So
Count = 4 = Import
Count = 5 = Save
Count = 6 = Close.
I have tried with only number of Data rows=1, But I think with say Data rows=10, the count numbers above will need to be +9. I hope you get the idea.
0. You have to play with it to figure out how it works. The manual doesn't help much.
1. "Tap to weigh" doesn't work. Nothing happens when I tap.
2. It seems only one measurement can be stored in the scale and then you have to upload it before your next use, otherwise the previous one will be erased.
3. You have to unplug usb after uploading, otherwise, you can not do a measurement.
4. You can not see other family member's data, you have to close the application and launch again.
5. Somehow, the application do not allow creating a login for people under age 10, why?
