Very accurate and easy to use.

And remember, when you are weighing to the milligram and below, even the best scale will perform poorly with bad technique.

I've weighed my calibration weights and found it to be accurate within 1mg.

A great bargain for a cheap scale. It will perform reasonably well if used carefully. Do not expect it to compete in accuracy or durability against laboratory scales, such as those by Mettler or Sartorius selling for $5-10K.

This is a nice little scale with a 4 by 4 inch footprint, about 1-1/2 inch tall, including the clear and colorless hinged draft shield. It fits into a neat magnetic-latch box. Batteries are included, two 10g reference weights, and cheap tweezers. The weighing pan is non-magnetic stainless steel. I have two of these scales to save trips to the weighing room. The first one has been in use for 6 months with no problems.

The scale is not quite ready to use as delivered. First, the weighing pan has adhesive residue. It is that sticky gum that can only be removed effectively with citrus oil or a citrus oil cleaner, such as Goo Gone. Second, and as others have noted, the pan sits too low on the scale body, and often touches the body of the scale during weighing. This, of course, will not work. The remedy is to glue a 10 mm diameter by about 0.5 mm thick non-magnetic metal washer to the underside of the pan. See my photograph at top of the Amazon listing. Although this will reduce the weighing capacity of the scale by the weight of the washer, it is insignificant. The washer I used weighed about 530 mg. Third, the tweezers are crude. If you have any serious weighing to do, you really should buy some quality tweezers with about tip #2. Dumont (Swiss) and others make good stuff. Of course, a single quality tweezer can easily cost more than this scale. You can economize by buying their epoxy coated electronic tweezers.

NOW, REAL TESTING. How accurate? How precise?

I am not a chemist. I needed to downsize supplements to my cat's body weight. Based on the reviews I bought this scale, and Hexagonal Weighing Boats, W-H38-WA-50, 38mm, small, White Anti-static, pack of 50 , and Micro Milligram Scoops 8 - 12 Milligrams Anti Static Polypropylene. Easy to use. Put a weighing boat on the scale. Press Tare to reset to zero. Scoop in the powder Done. I am treating it gently, even though it is portable. First thing I tested was a packet of sugar, which was listed at 4 grams. It weighed in at 3.5 grams. 4 grams is a teaspoon. Sure enough, it was a short teaspoon. This was an added value. I limit my sugar intake.Try to keep it 1 -2 grams, say in a serving of dark chocolate. I used one packet of sugar to cook 7 half pints low sugar home made strawberry jam, and got a product with .5 gram per 1/4 pint jar. Means I can have a big spoon of jam with negligible sugar intake. I am very pleased with the uses of this machine for such a low price.

I have some pretty strict requirements when purchasing a digital scale. Most important, for my needs...I require a scale that is accurate by .001 gram (i.e. it needs to be accurate down to one milligram). For as long as I have owned this scale, it has lived up to these expectations.

From powders to small gemstones, the readings have been consistently accurate. The surface area of the weighing device is a bit smaller than I would have liked. Although for that there is an easy fix. I personally just use a note card to double as a tray. I recommend getting some milligram scoops if you are using this for bulk powders, Anti Static Polypropylene Micro Milligram Scoops (Multiple Sizes & Colors) (6-10 mg Blue, 100Ct). They are cheap and hold very small amounts (around 10mg) so you can get the amount on the scale you need without wasting any.

Overall this model is extremely impressive for the price. I have owned a scale in the past, not the american weigh brand, that literally cost me 5 times the amount these scales cost, and there is not difference when it comes to accuracy. For me, I will stick with the cheaper option every time, as long as it works for what it was intended for.

I needed a scale for weighing small quantities roughly to the milligram, and this scale does just that. Since I lack the equipment to test its accuracy any further, I refer potential buyers to the very popular positive review in which another user did just that (and influenced my own decision to buy). Includes standard weights for calibration, which is very easy to do.

Remember, if your application requires exact measurement of milligrams, then you need a scale which measures to the tenth of a milligram - there is always a degree of uncertainty in the measurement of the last digit in any scale, this one is no exception. You will pay for that extra digit, though, and this scale is fantastic for the price, so carefully consider just how accurate you really need it to be.

We are using this balance to measure materials weight when conducting thermal evaporation. It works well for what we need!

I bought this for weighing vitamin powders, which I've started buying in bulk as it's extremely inexpensive. The only downside is that you have to measure out pretty infinitesimal amounts, frequently down to a milligram or two.

I checked both included calibration weights and they come up within about 3mg of each other. The little tray is very handy for weighing powders.

I don't have any way to compare this to a pricier or lab-grade scale, but it works a lot better than the older 10mg scale I have.
