Don't be deceived by the affordable price. This is one of the nicest scales I've come across for what I want. It's simple, very thin, and can cycle through multiple units of measure, saving your selection for next time. It's extremely sensitive and you can manually zero it out at any time. It also shuts off, automatically, after one minute and can hold up to 11 pounds.

Update: Still working perfectly after two years, and I've only changed the battery (CR2032) once!

This scale looks so nice and does exactly what it's supposed to, but it doesn't mention anywhere in the description that it has a ONE MINUTE auto-shut off. Most other scales I looked at had a 3 or 4 minute shut-off, so I assumed this would too. Be prepared to loose your measurement if you look at your recipe or need to chop/cut more. Very disappointed by this feature... or lack thereof.

This scale seriously surpasses expectations. It's really slick, very thin and easy to store, and the design is incredibly functional. It has no raised buttons, so it's easy to clean (we bought this scale to replace an older one with buttons that stopped working). We bought it recently so I can't comment on lifespan, but on everything else I'd give it A+.

Update (Aug 2011): we just melted this thing by leaving it on our toaster oven, but before we destroyed it, it was working like new. I just got another one for a replacement.

This precious SCALE is not only useful, it's pretty to look at as well, and it matches my black pyro-ceram appliances.
Easy to store: I put a small piece of velcro on the back and stand it against the window frame above my Kitchen Counter, so it's out of the way, leaving only a tiny footprint. This will also help preserve the Scale against being bumped and firing the batteries. Since another customer complained about the batteries being expensive, here is a hint. When wiping the glass face off, after use, hold the Scale in your other hand rather than placing it on the counter. That way the sensor legs aren't triggered.

For messy use, I also cover the black glass with clear plastic wrap, to help keep it clean.
The four different measures are very useful too.

I use mine to prepare dog food and it's great for calculating postage.
It's such a wonderful kitchen toy I even bought one as a gift for a friend.
Makes a great bridal gift.

It comes in handy at the strangest times.

And at this price - it's a GREAT bargain!

I loved this scale when I got it. It is acurate, attractive and small. But the first time I used it I scratched it deeply for about half an inch without setting anything rough on top of it. Also the touch controls are either over sensitive or not sensitive enough. It never works like it is supposed to.

Wanted to love it but I bought glass because it is a durable material this glass is not. More importantly I bought this because it looked like a functional scale, however touching the weigh surface to make adjustments to measure or tare is a pour design especially when you never know how the "heat sensitive" buttons will work.

I bought this product after reading mostly good reviews-- and I couldn't be happier! I was really nervous about the 1 minute auto shut-off, but decided to take the chance because I really liked the idea of having a red kitchen scale :).

It turns out that the shutoff has hardly been an issue. If you use the tare function after each ingredient (like I do), it doesn't matter if it shuts off because you can just turn it back on and reset it to zero for your next ingredient. A couple of times I have needed to look at a recipe to verify an amount, but I just keep my cookbook nearby and give the edge of the bowl a light tap every 30 seconds or so to prevent it from turning off. It's not ideal, but it's not a difficult thing to do.However, I live alone and usually cook without distractions-- I can imagine that with kids or pets it might be more of an inconvenience!

This scale is easy to use and the "buttons" are straightforward-- one to turn on/off and tare, and one to switch units. I say "buttons" because the controls are not actually buttons, they work just like a very responsive touch screen. I store it flat (I've read about people storing it sideways, but you'd have to be really careful about not letting the feet touch anything because it might cause the scale to be inaccurate). Cleaning it is a breeze (swipe with a damp sponge or paper towel).

All functionality aside, this thing is beautiful!! Shiny, modern, sleek design (and so many colors to choose from!). I took it out of the box and my boyfriend said it looked like an iPod :P.

This scale embarrassed me in front of my chef; I offered up this new scale as a measuring for my chefs cutting demonstration, he thought it was beautiful, but, he could not accept the readings given out from this device. He felt the readings that this scale was giving were underweight. At his testing, this scale read his cut at 3.58 oz's; the professional butchery scale, in the school, read his cut at 4.75 oz. (This happened in front of all my classmates, making my scale look untrustworthy)

I looked to the manual to calibrate the scale, but it asked for a 2000g/4.4 lbs and a 5000g/11 lbs calibrator weight. The 2000g weight cost $25 and the cheapest 5000g weight I could find cost $75, plus shipping.

I wrote my name on this device before I knew it was off, so I am stuck with it.

I am not going to buy $100 in calibrator weights. I am going to go to the store and buy 4.4 lbs & 11 lbs of flour and use that to calibrate this crap out of my life. Of course using my chef's scale to make sure my scale readings come close to his.

If I would have known this ahead of time, I might have thought twice about buying it. But, it is a pretty device, I am yet to see how durable it is though :O)

Able to moderately scale the scale and just now learned from a person that left a comment attached to this review, how to easily calibrator without having to buy any extra things.

I have been using this scale in culinary class and it is great and convenient for all us students to weigh vegetables and such. I changed my 1-star to 5-stars. I get a lot of complements on the classy-design. It is easy to store and pack-around.

I use it daily now :O)

It looks good, nice and sleek. The backlight is blue, which wasn't obvious from the description.

This is a nice scale that I don't have any regrets buying. With that being said I do belive that the manufacturer could have come up with a way to keep this scale from turning on when it's touched. I don't leave the scale out on the counter top and store it in a cabinet when not in use. It seems that each time I bump into the scale it turns on. No big deal but kind of annoying. By design, this is an easy scale to use and keep clean.

I got the lime green scale several months back and I love it! Looks nice on the counter and very accurate. Never had any issues with it turning on by itself as stated in other reviews, even when I move it around. The weight is sensitive but at just the right amount. The auto shut-off is bittersweet. It saves battery if you forget to turn it off manually, but if you take too long measuring out something than you can lose your data. My solution is to make sure you have everything ready to go before you measure.

Bottom line: This is a great quality scale that looks nice in any kitchen at an affordable price. I highly recommend it.
