I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to weighing my luggage that did not involve me standing on my bathroom scale holding my luggage. Be honest, I `m not the only one that has done this, right!! Found this very nice unit on Amazon.com and after carefully reading most of the reviews, I decided to take a chance. I was not disappointed. The casing is metal with machine screws not plastic like so many of the other choices in this price range. It also has a sturdy metal handle that is just right for the scales weight limit. The hook is adequate for most jobs. A simple added strap or bigger hook will increase its range. Most of the reviews I read did not adequately address the issue of how accurate this scale is. So I set out on my own to satisfy my curiously. Fortunately, I have access to calibrated scientific instruments. I measured a piece of metal on the calibrated scale with three decimal place accuracy and recorded the results. Then I placed the same piece of metal on the hook of my luggage scale. The results was a difference of 1/100 between the two scales. Tell that to the airline representative. No more standing on the bathroom scale.

American Weigh has designed an excellent, low-cost digital scale which gives a reasonably accurate weight for many household items. I purchased the scale for weighing my recyclable items, such as aluminum cans, and plastic and glass bottles. Now I finally have a method to verify that my recycling center is actually coming up with good numbers. The Tare weight feature (empty container weight) is very handy for excluding the container weight from my final poundage. And the ability to weigh in both pounds and ounces and kilograms is just icing on the cake. Highly recommended.

I bought this to keep in the barn to weigh new lambs, feed ,etc. It works great and performs well in sub-freezing weather. Great value for the money.

I first saw a similar scale being sold on a home birth supplies site for $36. Naturally I wanted to find a cheaper one. And AMAZON.COM is the place to look! This one is not only cheaper, it's better! This one can weight up 110 lbs (where as the other one only up to 50lbs) So now, with the help of a scale sling of course, I can weigh all my children whenever I need to (and I don't need a bulky scale to do that) And my husband can use it when he goes fishing and maybe even hunting!

We purchased an H-110 scale in Jan. 2013 (from Amazon), and trusted it until today (May 15).
Today I discovered that for weights above ~ 85 lb, the scale is inaccurate.
Up to ~80 lb the weights indicated by the H-110 track with a similar product.
Data I've been collecting with it for the past month has been mostly garbage.
I would rather the scale had not worked at all than have it lie to me in a portion of it's advertised operating range.
Battery life was satisfactory.
Coin batteries are cheap when you buy a large enough quantity from a source on the web.
I'd rather it had used AAA batteries because I would use rechargables in it.
Durability was OK.
Scale visibility was pretty good. (better than the one I'm using now)
The inaccuracy trumps all its good features. I have to give it thumbs down.

5/16/13 -- I took the back cover off of the scale today. There I discovered that an "L" shaped mechanical component had bent/deformed so that now it (that faulty part) "bottoms out" against the frame. That's why the scale failed to reach its rated load.
The part was too weak; it bent when the scale was loaded to around 100 lb.
It's a manufacturing defect (of this production lot???). Either the designer didn't specify a sufficiently strong part, or the contract manufacturer skimped on materials.

I bought this scale about 9 months ago to weigh my backpacks for hiking / backpacking trips, it is a big help for trip planning. Also gets used for a lot of other small tasks - the fact you can hang it and hang a bag with stuff in it from the hook makes this a very useful scale.

This scale has been a welcome surprise for accuracy. I did not have high expectations going in, and would have been happy if this were a tad outside of the tolerances for lighter objects under 2lbs and heavier ones over, say, 90lbs... but as usual with American Weigh scales, this one exceeded my expectations.

I own many scales, and have a myriad of different calibration weights. Even with as litlle as 1-2 lbs, this scale reads right where it should. The error is small enough, and definitely withing the .05 tolerance it is sold at, that I typically feel confident in what I am reading whether it is 2 lbs or 40 lbs on the hook.

For the price paid, I would recommend this scale to anyone looking for a versatile, cheap and durable scale for their needs. As always, those seeking accuracy to the gram level would need to look elsewhere. This is my fifth AWS scale, and I have been happy with every one of them. Plus, AWS has a ten year warranty, and if you ever call the company, you get a person (I got Kevin twice) who is friendly, knowledgeable and will take whatever time you need.

Would buy this again.
