It's a single solid piece, well constructed. Mine had minor staining on the sides (almost like water stains that won't come out) but it doesn't affect how the item works. If you need a 500 gram calibration weight this is the one to get.

Looks fine & calibrated my digital scale without issue. I don't have another 500g weight to actually test this against but my 500g 1/100th scale reads exactly 5.00g when weighing a nickel after using this so I guess it's right on the money. Seems to be the best priced 500g calibration weight on the market when factoring shipping etc.

Was having trouble getting an accurate pocket scale so I took this weight to the store with me. When I found the scale that weighed a dollar bill as exactly 1 gram, and consistantly so (all U.S. currency weighs 1 gram, possibly minus extreme wear), then this weight came in at exactly 500 grams. So I know it's a reliable calibration weight. It's shinier and brighter of color than the picture shows (prettier).
