Philosophy. Philomene Long has recorded almost a hundred koan-like moments from the life of widely-respected Zen master Maezumi Roshi, who died in 1995. Roshi had many famous visitors, including Allen Ginsberg, but his tranquility in the face of any question or situation never wavered. I was out in the garden and heard the sound of an American fighter plane overhead. It came in low, so low and so close that I could see the pilot's face. While I was looking at him, he was looking at me. Our eyes actually met... As far as I know I haven't seen him since (The First American Maezumi Met).
