4.0 out of 5 stars It needs a different title!, March 27, 2009
It is an excellent book, but the title does not reflect the content: it is mostly on the americanization of Germany and not on the americanization of Europe! Just a suggestion: check the table of contents carefully.

5.0 out of 5 stars A welcome and timely addition, May 7, 2007
Edited by Professor Alexander Stephen, The Americanization of Europe: Culture, Diplomacy, and Anti-Americanism After 1945 is an anthology of essays by scholarly authors examining the progressing phenomenon of Americanization amid nations across the Atlantic, a happening deplored by some and embraced by others yet persisting nonetheless. A backlash of anti-American sentiment has become increasingly apparent in European nations as well. Essays cover major powers such as Great Britain, France, West Germany, the former Soviet Union and Italy, as well as smaller nations such as Austria, Denmark, Greece, Spain, Sweden, and Poland. A sober examination of a diversity of the types of impact Americanization has had, from high culture to popular culture, lifestyle issues, and history of anti-American sentiment. A welcome and timely addition to college and public library international studies shelves.
