So You Think You Know All About FairTax? Think Again.,
By
This review is from: America's Best Kept Secret: Fairtax: Give Yourself a 25% Raise (Paperback)
Even if you already know and support the FairTax, this book is a must-read.
First it describes how the FairTax came about, a question that comes up often in discussions! This is no fly-by proposal. On the contrary, it is the result of a 10-year study by major economists from universities like Stanford, Harvard, Rice, MIT, and more. The book names names: Who paid for the study and why, what they're doing now and what they plan to do. Americans for Fair Taxation has a lot of information on their website but this book has even more. Here you'll find a collection of articles, charts (rebate calculations, comparisions of all kinds, estimates, costs, etc.), letters, studies and results. There's a great chapter on the "Impact of the FairTax on Interest Rates" that will make everyone sit up and take notice, There are sections on how the FairTax will impact businesses like home builders, financial services, mining, oil and gas, and more -- even timber-related industries! Most amusing and delightful is "The Twelve Days of a FairTax Christmas" beginning on page 56 and written by a FairTax staff writer. FairTax, by giving every worker his/her entire paycheck, makes every day Christmas Day. In short, this book tells the reader who needs the FairTax and why, who are the people behind it, what the experts say about it, gives the impact of the FairTax on the economy and various organizations and businesses and chronicles the history of hearings already held on the subject. If you think you know all there is to know about the FairTax, this book will prove to you that you don't. If you don't know anything about FairTax (and if you're a taxpayer you owe it to yourself and your family to find out), this is a reliable, complete source of information.

Perhaps Mr. Velocipede Is Right ...,

This review is from: America's Best Kept Secret: Fairtax: Give Yourself a 25% Raise (Paperback)
I've read the book, looked over all the research, and have come to the conclusion that nothing is guaranteed in this world. So the Fair Tax is not perfect - so what? The income tax, on top of being unwanted by the founding fathers, is patently unfair and has more flaws than there's time to name. The Fair Tax IS the closest to perfection we have and it can continued to be tweaked right up until enactment (as long as the primary features are retained).
As for the comment I read about government spending being the real culprit - yes, it is. But if the government were serious about balancing the budget, they could do so easily by actually enforcing the collection of income tax. If government did they might even be able to adjust the existing income tax brackets downward because there would be an instant and huge surplus. So why not take the government mostly out of the equation, and thus the temptation away, so that market forces can determine how much the Fair Tax will collect? Capitalism has a way of doing its own thing, and better, without government interference. Go, Fair Tax!

Best Kept Secret Indeed,

It is indeed America's best kept secret. A few pages into this book you will wonder how come this tax reform bill didn't get voted into law yet. The author describes the H.R. 25 bill that proposes the FairTax tax reform and presents a list of extensive research papers that explain how it will affect the American economy. In addition this book is an easy and enjoyable reading. I am convinced. A must read for every American tax payer and voter.

Fair Tax - Fair Taxation,
By
This review is from: America's Best Kept Secret: Fairtax: Give Yourself a 25% Raise (Paperback)
This book is an excellent review of our current federal taxation problem, and presents an excellent solution. Although the book presents a tax solution that requires a major change in taxing philosophy, it is well worth reading and considering.

America's Best Kept Secret,
By
This review is from: America's Best Kept Secret: Fairtax: Give Yourself a 25% Raise (Paperback)
This is an excellent book describing how we are being strangled by the IRS and its tens of thousands of rules and regulations. It also explains fully how the FAIRTAX Bill HR 25 will benefit ALL of us. The author, Al Ose, has done a lot of research to explain how we should support HR 25, in layman's terms and ask our Congress Representatives to support this bill. There would be no more loopholes and everyone would pay taxes on new consumption and services. Every library should have copies of this book on their shelves as well as in our homes.

There is a disturbing element of fear noticeable in several comments.
The fact of the matter is that this system is obviously failing in its principal function, i.e. to bring in revenue to the U.S. government. Compliance or lack of it deteriorates annually. By this I mean that the number of people paying taxes into the treasury has declined from in excess of 90% in the forties to about 70% currently. Many of these people are not registered with the government and never will be "touched " for taxes. Many others do not pay for various reasons. It is well known that there exists a huge "underground" economy that contributes nothing directly to the cost of the government. these people have a "free lunch" at everyone else's expense. These and others give a powerful argument for some method other than a progressive income tax to finance the governemtn Straight ahead

Al Ose has done a masterful job of laying out the problems inherent in our current system of federal taxation and, as is rarely the case these days, lays out the perfect solution to the problem as well!Every American taxpayer owes it to himself to GET THIS BOOK, read it, and then ACT based on the knowledge he has thus obtained! Well Done Al Ose!

Fair Tax the best way to fund government,
By
This review is from: America's Best Kept Secret: Fairtax: Give Yourself a 25% Raise (Paperback)
The most important thing about the Fair Tax - EVERYONE would know EVERYTIME they paid their income tax. The sneaky way the government is funded now - through witholding taxes - keeps people from knowing how much they pay in income tax. In fact, most people think they don't pay income tax when they get their refund!
If there were a national sales tax, then every time someone purchased something, they would see right there on the sales slip, how much they paid to fund the government. The wealthy would pay MORE tax, just as most people want. Why? Because they buy more. And the things they buy cost more. Saving would be encouraged. Much red tape would be eliminated. No one would pay tax on necessities. There is no down side to the Fair Tax.

I've heard it all, yet still support the FairTax!,
By
This review is from: America's Best Kept Secret: Fairtax: Give Yourself a 25% Raise (Paperback)
For the blowhards who say the government will raise taxes on guns, but not Big Macs, I have a guestion to ask them, "have you read this bill?" or better yet, "do you understand this bill?".
The qualities of the FairTax are revenue neutral and the consumption tax is a flat rate...across the board! The government couldn't adjust the tax rate on one item and not adjust the tax rate on another item. For this to happen, it would have to be a legislative proposal that would then have to be ratified by the states. The obvious solution to our rediculous tax structure here in the United States is to simply get rid of the income tax completely as it was so clearly printed in our constitution. The only problem with this is that politicians are having a hard enough time just considering the FairTax right now so what makes you think that they'll even think once about eliminating the income tax at all??? Politicians love the income tax (especially the Demoncrats and Greenies) because it creates a hardened class-warfare system that they can use to run campaign platforms from. The well-known "tax the rich" or "make the rich pay more" versus the "welfare state" or the "entitlement classes" are the best grounds of political warfare that career politicians use to stir up their voter base! This book completely urges the reader to become actively engaged in supporting the FairTax, which is the best idea to eleviate the current tax burden. America is too rich to tax into submission and with the passage of the FairTax we can become even more successful in our own rights. This is a must read and is a companion book to "The FairTax Book" by Neal Boortz and John Linder. Both should be read and understood. This idea of complete tax reform cannot pass until the citizenry of America is better informed of this. We have to let the pigs in D.C. know that we understand what is going on and demand a change!
