The Foundational Truth,
By
This review is from: America's Lost Dream (Hardcover)
This book helps us to understand that the Founding Fathers fashioned "separation of church and state" to prevent secular government from legislating religion in the public arena and interfering with religion in the private arena. However, the "religion" in question was the dominant religion of their day and the one in which the nation had been founded upon...Christianity. The framers were certainly not concerned that Hinduism, Buddhism or Islam were going to develop into a tyrannical force in American government; this thought would never have entered their 18th century minds. At its core, separation of Church and state means that the one of U.S. Government has no right to legislate religion; ones individual spirituality is the private business of every individual citizen unless it results in criminal activity. It must be kept in mind that the undeniable fact remains that nearly ALL of the Founders would have called themselves Christians, Theists or Deists. The plain truth is that like it or not, America was built out of a Judeo-Christian world view and upon a Biblical foundation; there is simply no way around that and no amount of "kicking and screaming" will re-write history. All fair-minded individuals are encouraged to read Gary DeMars book, "Americas Christian History" in order to intelligently weigh the data. BTW, for those who prefer to live in a non-Christian country there are plenty of of them out there to choose from - that's one of the nice things about living in a free world - oh, one word of caution...If your a big fan a FREEDOM I would recommend staying here.

This is a fabulous short book about the history of the United States with special focus on the pilgrims, the revolution, the history of the Star Spangled Banner and the Civil War. The artwork is incredibly done by Bill Looney.

This review is from: America's Lost Dream (Hardcover)
This was a good history reminder. It has some good artwork in it. The only thing that could have made it better, is if it had been more extensive.

America's lost dream,
This review is from: America's Lost Dream (Hardcover)
America's lost dream is a children's book about what the founding fathers meant by "one nation under god". This book reveals the opinion of the author only and tries to explain what the "one true faith" is. I found this book highly offensive because I am Jewish and I feel that the book insinuates that the one true faith is Christianity. This undermines the ideas of separation of church and state that the founders clearly stated in the bill of rights. So if you want a completely biased book about the founders and religion, this is the perfect book for you. Otherwise, put this book back on the shelf.
