5.0 out of 5 stars This re-release was worth the wait!, December 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Americas (Audio CD)
Ever since I heard cuts from Strunz and Farrah's Americas, I was combing ever web site and record store I could find to get the CD. They finally re-released this in September, and it was well worth the wait. Both of these guitarists combine so well the music of their different cultures; flamenco, Middle Eastern and everything in between. Added into the mix is outstanding, snap-your-fingers percussion. Typically when I buy a CD, one or two cuts on it are outstanding and the remainder only fair. I can definitely say this isn't the case with Americas. All the musical cuts are different, and all are excellent. I'm hooked!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST CDs ever recorded!, September 19, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Americas (Audio CD)
No kidding... Strunz & Farah are incredible musicians, and though I own virtually everything they've recorded, this relatively early CD is my favorite by far. It should be in everyone's collection! Americas features smoothe, interwoven Latin guitar riffs which chase each other playfully through beautiful melodic landscapes and leave our imaginations dancing happily alongside. Whether or not you've ever heard these incredible musicians, this is one CD you will play again and again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dance Of The Burning Guitars, June 4, 2003

"pmahtash" (Vienna, Austria) - See all my reviews

"Americas" is one of my all-time Favorite Records.
As soon as it begins with "Caracol", you recognize immediately that something very special is going to happen. And it happens!
Here you can find a lot of Passion, Temperament and Wonderful Guitar Skills.
"Americas" has sold over a half million copies and was #2 on the Billboard World Music Chart for months and was nominated for a Grammy in the World Music category in 1992.
Strunz and Farah, the guitarists, come from very different Cultures.
Jorge Strunz comes from Costa Rica and Ardeshir Farah -just like me- from Iran.
But it seems that in the musical ways, they are just like a soul in two bodies and this "cultural difference" can do nothing against their spiritual integration.
"Americas" has a major Latin-flamenco taste while it's Iranian too!
and I'm just wondering about that.
Yes... We're different. but "Strunz and Farah" show us how similar we could be.
But forget all of these for a moment, just let our souls dance passionately with their music!

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you sure it's picture that paint 1000 words?, November 20, 2003
This review is from: Americas (Audio CD)
Excellent! ...No words. This is a kind of old CD, from the, probably best acoustic guitarrists ever, since it's from the year 1992, but it's by far the best, and that's not just my opinion. When, I first listened to it, I, felt as if I were in another place, a superiror place... I forgot all my problems and worries and just felt the music to the sense of it My mind enjoying the true pleasures of life. This is more or less the effect it has on almost everyone, if not everyone(all the Strunz & Farah's actually, but this one highlited.) If you are looking for a CD that's just perfect, to has all the qualities an acoustic guitar can reach, definitely buy this one. Of course, this kind of music (Latin-guitar flamenco) is an acquired taste ,I tell you, although not many ears will refuse its exquisite taste.

5.0 out of 5 stars Americas is great, August 15, 2000
By A Customer

I recently purchased two CDs by these artists, Americas and Heat of the Sun. Both CDS are very good, but I'm partial to Americas. I can without hesitation recommend both albums to Guitar/Flemenca enthusiasts. Some of the best music of its type out there....

I would recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys latin flamenco guitar. The music is lush, beautiful, and exotic. It is also great to play for a garden party. I own three Strunz & Farah CDs and they are all awesome but Americas remains my favorite.

5.0 out of 5 stars The True Escape, November 5, 2006
This review is from: Americas (Audio CD)
This is one of those albums that truly carries you through a portal of relaxation to another dimention. A dimension in which you feel as if you were in some bungalow in the middle of Amazon sitting around a fire surrounded by talented guitar players and excellent flamenco dancers. It is truely an escape and a way to leave your world behind and experience true captivation by the sound of the guitar. In my opinion, the artwork on the cover of the album is a true depiction of the passionate music within. I have had this album for more than 10 years and have listened to it at least a 100 times - it just doesn't get old.
