Comprehensive Book on Resumes-Practical and Helpful,
By Dale Susan Brown "Dale Susan Brown" (Washington D.C.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: America's Top Resumes (Paperback)
This book describes how to write resumes and recommends an initial sample one so that writing the resume does not delay the job hunt. The 381 resumes are written by members of the Professional Association of Resume Writers and are organized by the job categories of the Occupational Outlook Handbook of the Department of Labor. It may be the first resume book to cover almost every job in the country. Includes commentary about good and bad points of paticular resumes. The book also describes JIST cards (TM) cover letters, and other examples of job search correspondence. (This review was in the annotated bibliography of Learning A Living; A Guide to Planning Your Career and Finding a Job for People with Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder and Dyslexia by Dale S. Great for entry level jobs - NOT for management positions,

This review is from: America's Top Resumes (Paperback)
This book seems particularly well suited for applicants in the service and hospitality industry, sales, trades, and entry-level corporate positions.
However, I would NOT recommend this book as a resource for people seeking corporate jobs at above entry level. Though this book offers several examples of resumes for middle and senior level management, they are very outdated and pretty uninspiring - definetly NOT what you should model your resume after if you are seeking a management postion or working with a headhunter. |
