I have now used several books by J. Michael Farr, and he is far and away the best resume expert out there. Its like he is my personal job search and resume guru. This book is packed with resume samples for all types of jobs...they have given me many ideas as I struggle with my latest job search. It helps having his wise advice and resume know-how on my side as I look for a new job. Thank you J. Michael Farr!

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Book on Resumes-Practical and Helpful, February 16, 2003
This review is from: America's Top Resumes (Paperback)
This book describes how to write resumes and recommends an initial sample one so that writing the resume does not delay the job hunt. The 381 resumes are written by members of the Professional Association of Resume Writers and are organized by the job categories of the Occupational Outlook Handbook of the Department of Labor. It may be the first resume book to cover almost every job in the country. Includes commentary about good and bad points of paticular resumes. The book also describes JIST cards (TM) cover letters, and other examples of job search correspondence. (This review was in the annotated bibliography of Learning A Living; A Guide to Planning Your Career and Finding a Job for People with Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder and Dyslexia by Dale S. Brown

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for entry level jobs - NOT for management positions, October 2, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: America's Top Resumes (Paperback)
This book seems particularly well suited for applicants in the service and hospitality industry, sales, trades, and entry-level corporate positions.

However, I would NOT recommend this book as a resource for people seeking corporate jobs at above entry level. Though this book offers several examples of resumes for middle and senior level management, they are very outdated and pretty uninspiring - definetly NOT what you should model your resume after if you are seeking a management postion or working with a headhunter.
