• Shows the connections between our increasing personal anxiety about sex and America's increasingly flawed and dangerous public policies relating to sexuality

• Exposes the hypocrisy of "conservative" religious and political movements, and reveals how their claims about protecting Americans hide a different—and dangerous—agenda

• Includes a powerful introduction by Nadine Strossen, beloved and longtime leader of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

• Provides an entertaining and enlightening read filled with witty analysis and fearless, fact-based commentary

• Includes over 400 footnotes documenting Klein's observations and descriptions

• Presents relevant, timely information for both lay readers and professionals in the fields of law, medicine, social science, education, and psychology

"Klein's careful work torpedoing the erotophobic war against sex had to be done, and he did it well."

This book clearly documents how the Religious Right (and a few other groups) are trying to turn the United States into religious dictatorship. Anything that offends them must be banned regardless of its legality or their ability to "turn it off".

This book should be required reading for every district attorney in the country (and their staffs), as well as any person that writes or votes on any law or ordinance that deals with any private activity, sexual or otherwise.

I wasn't quite sure what I would be getting when I bought this book, but once I started reading it I was glad I had. It looks at the many ways that government, religion and individuals are waging a war on the basic rights of adults to engage in sexual activities with other adults. The book then explains that this is then made to be a threat to our children. Never in this book is kiddie porn stated to be acceptable.
It explains vey well how the war on sex is hurting our children by refusing to accept the fact that they are sexual active, not giving them access to birth control and denying them a good sex-education program. At times even taking them from loving, caring parents because their parents engaged in sex acts someone did not approve of.
I was not aware of the extremes that some people are going to in forcing their own personal beliefs on others in an area that is not of their business.
The pain and the damage that is done in the name of the war on sex is massive and continuing to get worse, people need to know what is happening so they can work to stop it.
This book is an eye opener!

This book is a wake-up call, containing a very vivid description of the way in which religious dogma about sex (under the guise of "morality") is continually encroaching upon our most fundamental liberties as Americans. My simple advice is to READ THIS BOOK and to become a person who speaks up for sexual rights, because sexual rights are representative of basic rights, in general.

Mr.Klein's analysis is well researched, well written and offers an interesting insight. I think this is a must read reminding Americans of the true purpose of a democratic republic: co-existence. One does not have to like someone, something or some action. But the only way a country can be free, and remain free, is to not let the discomfort of some limit the freedoms of others.
