5.0 out of 5 stars Best thing to come out of Portland OR
Well, first let me say that since I live in Seattle I can't see Betty Already every show. I've only seen them twice. Once in Seattle and once in Portland (which had me call in sick the next day) which is why I have two of these CDs. One is at work and one is at home... You think I'm joking but I'm not just ask Miz Kitty. Anyway if there is any problem with the CD it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid Debut for Betty Already
One of Portland, OR's up-and-coming bands, Betty Already's debut CD, "Amerimaniacs", gives us a taste of their particular brand of power punk/pop. Full of high-energy tracks and a guy/girl singing duo consisting of Miz Kitty and Scott, Betty reminds us that rock is supposed to be fun, even while they attack topics like America's tendency toward materialism in...

Anyway if there is any problem with the CD it is that it's too short. That's it, nothing else... well maybe more pictures of Miz Kitty in the liner notes. This is what rock is all about. None of that rock/rap that you hear a lot of plus Scott and Murphy know how to do more than just the same powercord over and over again like ohhhh every band on MTV. Postman's drumming is pretty solid too, knowing when to put a fill in and when not to which is something that new drummers should take notes on. Icky Boom does a good job on the bass and should get more credit for his talent. You can actually hear his sound instead of confuse it for a guitar. (Some people don't care for that but if you want to sound like you're playing guitar then just play it). As for Miz Kitty? Well we have to save the best for last. Her vocals match Scott's style and they compliment each other perfectly. I would say she is the Northwest's answer to Shirly Manson. It's also fun to watch her dance on stage. If you really like music that is original and not spoonfed to you buy record labels that create bands and music (like boy bands and Static X, Incubus etc etc) then you should check this album out. You owe it to yourself and when they become the next hot thing you can say you were into them near the beginning.

You know how you hear a CD and you can't stop your head and feet and hips and lips from moving? This is one of those.... you want to beat everything. Add lyrics that challenge their own conventions, and some that just nail IT, and this is a CD that crosses the classic line -- party music, or listening music? It's both. It's killer guitar. And vocals. And the best pig art on the cover, ever. Get it.

One of Portland, OR's up-and-coming bands, Betty Already's debut CD, "Amerimaniacs", gives us a taste of their particular brand of power punk/pop. Full of high-energy tracks and a guy/girl singing duo consisting of Miz Kitty and Scott, Betty reminds us that rock is supposed to be fun, even while they attack topics like America's tendency toward materialism in songs such as "Amerimaniacs" and "Must Be Hard". Backed by the incredible drumming of the Postman and bassist Icky Boom, who is no one-note wonder, and given melody by guitarist Murphy, the CD shows that music doesn't have to be perfectly produced to be worth listening to. It's just too bad the disc can't capture the energy and craziness they put forth live - this is definitely a band best experienced in the flesh.
